श्रीमद् भागवत कथा पुराण तृतीय स्कंध अध्याय 30 आरंभ
कर्मानुसार जीवो की स्थिति का वृतांत हे माता कपिल देव जी गंभीर स्वर से बोले 8400000 योनियों में भ्रमण करने के उपरांत मानव शरीर की प्राप्ति होती है जीवो में सर्वश्रेष्ठ योनि मनुष्य योनि है किंतु जो इस सुंदर तन को पाकर घमंड में बड़े हो जाते हैं सुख कर्म ना करके पाठ 4 करने लगते हैं वह मनुष्य का ने उमड़े लंगड़े लूले एवं दरिद्र होकर संसार में अत्यंत कष्ट पाते हैं और उनके विपरीत सुंदर शरीर एवं संपन्न मनुष्य के बारे में या समझना चाहिए कि उसे अपने पूर्व जन्म में अच्छे कर्म किए थे उसका फल इस जन्म में पा रहे हैं उसने स्वर्ग से लौटा कर इस धरती पर जन्म पाया है और जिस प्राणी के पाप और पुण्य दोनों धर्म के तराजू पर बराबर रहते हो उस प्राणी को पुनः मनुष्य योनि की प्राप्ति होती है जो मनुष्य सिर्फ पूर्ण किए हो होता है उसे पुनः जन्म लेने की आवश्यकता नहीं होती मनुष्य उसकी भी होती है किंतु मृत्यु के पश्चात वह सभी प्रकार के बंधनों से मुक्ति पाकर हरि कृपा से देवता अर्थात गंधर्व पद को प्राप्त होकर सुखों का भोग ना भोग करता है मनुष्य स्वभाव के अनुसार वेद शास्त्रों में तीन तरह के गुणों का निर्माण किया गया है रजोगुण तमोगुण सतोगुण जिसमें से रजोगुण अर्थात राष्ट्रीय कर्म करने वाले प्राणी सतलोक में स्थान मिलता है तमोगुण अर्थात तामसी राक्षस समान कर्म करने वाले प्राणी को नर्क की प्राप्ति होती है तथा सतोगुण मनुष्य जब तक पूजा-पाठ एवं हरि कृपा के चरण बिंदुओं का ध्यान करता हुआ देवलक में उत्तम स्थान पाता है श्री हरि की कृपा एवं उनकी इच्छा ही जगत में सर्वव्यापी है उसकी इच्छा के बिना ब्रह्मांड का एक पत्ता भी नहीं हिलता महात्मा कपिल देव के वचन सुनकर विचार करते हुए देवहूति विनम्रता पूर्वक बोली हे प्रभु इस बार बार के जन्म लेने दुख पाने और पुणे मृत्यु को प्राप्त होने वाले चक्कर से मुक्ति पाने का कोई सरल मार्ग भी है अर्थ हुआ प्राणी यूं ही भटकता रहता है माता के वचनों को सुनकर कपिल जी धीर गंभीर वाणी का उच्चारण करके बोले सदा सत्य बोलना असत्य का भाषण ना करना जीव हिंसा ना करना आचरण से रहना बुरी संगति से दूर रहना अपने मन को प्रसन्न रखना अथवा दूसरे प्राणियों को प्रसन्न रखने का प्रयास करना अपने से श्रेष्ठ व्यक्तियों के सम्मान करना साधु संत ही वह ब्राह्मणों की सेवा करना घर आए याचक भिखारी को सामर्थ के अनुसार दान देना क्रोध को अपने शरीर में स्थान ना देना किसी दूसरे को धान को देखकर इस या ना करना जितना तुम्हारे पास हो प्रभु की इच्छा समझकर उसी से संतुष्ट रहना प्राणियों से प्रेम करना पराई स्त्रियों से माता का स्थान देना एवं समय निकालकर प्रभु के चरणों का स्मरण करना और धर्म-कर्म के कार्य को निश्चय पूर्वक पूर्ण करना मनुष्य शरीर पाकर जो प्राणी यह कर कार्य नहीं करता उसकी दुर्गति होती है और जो प्राणी साधु संतों की मंडली में बैठकर सत्संग सुनता है हरि कथा का श्रवण प्रेम पूर्वक करता है उसे प्रभु प्रसन्न रहते हैं और यह विचार करते हैं कि आप ने भक्तों को कौन सी ऐसी वस्तु प्रदान कर दूं जिससे अपने भक्तों के ऋण से उऋण हो जाए अतः हे माता प्रभु की प्राप्ति के लिए साधु संतों की संगत करना परम आवश्यक है प्रभु को पाने का रास्ता वही बतलाते हैं
