श्रीमद् भागवत कथा पुराण आठवां स्कंध अध्याय 21 आरंभ
राजा बलि का बामन भगवान द्वारा बांधा जाना श्री सुखदेव जी बोले हे राजा परीक्षित जिस समय वामन भगवान का दाहिना चरण ऊपर के साथ लोगों को नहाते हुए ब्रह्म लोक में पहुंचा उसके चरण को देखकर ब्रह्माजी संहिता में देवगढ़ उठ खड़े हुए श्री नारायण के नाक चंद्र को ब्रह्मा जी ने कमंडल से जल निकालकर धोया उसी जल से श्री गंगा जी का पृथ्वी पर अवतरण हुआ देवता यक्ष किन्नर आदि में ढोल मृदंग बजाकर उनकी जय-जयकार करते हुए पुष्पों की वर्षा की तत्पश्चात वामन भगवान राजा बली से बोले हे राजन तुमने मुझे तीन पग भूमि देने का वचन दिया था किंतु दो भाग में तुम्हारे संपूर्ण राज को मैंने नाप लिया अब तीसरे पाक की भूमि वहां से दूंगा राजा बलि चुपचाप खड़े रहे उन्हें इस प्रकार रूप देखकर वामन भगवान बोले हे राजन् यदि तीसरे पक्की भूमि देने की सामर्थ्य नहीं है तो स्पष्ट शब्दों में मना कर दो हम बिना दान लिए वापस चले जाएंगे तब राजा बलि हाथ जोड़कर सिर झुकाते हुए बोला हे जगत पिता जगदीश्वर माय सत्यवादी नहीं हूं मैंने तीन पग भूमि आप को दान में देने का संकल्प किया जिससे दो पग आप नाक चुके हैं तीसरे पर की भूमि में अवश्य दूंगा तब वामन भगवान कहने लगे हे राजा बलि तुम्हें अभिमान पूर्वक कहा था कि जो चाहो मांग लो और देख रहा हूं कि तीन पग भूमि प्रदान करने की भी सामर्थ नहीं है और गुरु जी से बोले एग्रो यह आपने वचन को पूर्ण नहीं कर रहा है इसलिए से बांधकर पृथ्वी पर डाल दो गुरु जी ने वामन भगवान के आदेश का पालन करते हुए राजा बलि को बांध लिया फिर भी राजा बलि या ना रहा सके कि आपने छल करके मेरे राज्य वैभव छीन लिया उसी क्षण देवर्षि नारद वहां पर प्रकट हुए और वहां उपस्थित अन्य राजाओं को जो यह कह रहे थे कि राजा बलि को बांधना उचित नहीं है से बोले हे राजा हूं एवं दैत्य गण भगवान वामन जी राजा के सत्य की परीक्षा ले रहे हैं आप लोग चिंता ना करें तत्पश्चात वामन अवतार धारी त्रिलोकी पति भगवान ने कहा तू यज्ञ आदि करके इंद्र से भी बड़ा पद प्राप्त करना चाहता था किंतु पूर्ण रूप से दन ना दे सकने के कारण एवं गुरु शुक्राचार्य के वचनों को अवहेलना करने से नरक का दुख भोगना होगा यह सुनकर भी राजा बलि विचलित ना हुए और निवेदन करते हुए बोले हे भगवान मैं दान देने के लिए वचनबद्ध हूं यदि मैं जानता हूं कि आपने आपने जिन चरणों से एक पल में ऊपर के साथ लोग दूसरे पर में नीचे के समस्त लोग को नाप लिया और उसके सम्मुख मेरा शरीर कोई महत्व नहीं रखता फिर भी आप तीसरे पक्की पृथ्वी के बदले मेरे मस्तक पर अपने चरण रखकर मेरा शरीर ना प्लीज हे पालनहार यदि मैं कंजूसों की भांति कृपा करके आप को दान देता फिर भी यह धन संपत्ति वैभव एवं राज्य मेरे साथ ना जाता आपने भक्त पहलाद के कुल में मुझे जन्म देकर कृतार्थ किया और धन आदि के अहंकार का नाश करके गुरु के समान उद्देश्य किया जिस समय राजा बलि भगवान वामन जी से वार्ता कर रहे थे उसी समय भक्त पहलाद आकाश से उतरकर वहां पर आए और भगवान के साष्टांग प्रणाम करके बोले हे भक्त प्रवर आप अपने राजा बलि को जिस तरह तीनो लोग का राज्य प्रदान किया था उसी प्रकार छीन कर उचित दंड दिया है क्योंकि धन ऐश्वर्य प्राप्त कर प्राणी अभिमानी हो जाता है आपको मैं नमस्कार करता हूं तत्पश्चात देते राजबली की स्त्री रानी विद्यान वती बोली है कृपा निधान आप समस्त लोगों को सिरजनहार हैं पालक एवं हारता है खेल खेल में सृष्टि का निर्माण एवं नाश करते हैं हम सारे जीव आप को क्या दे सकते हैं उसके बाद ब्रह्मा जी ने निवेदन किया तब वामन भगवान मुस्कुराते हुए बोले हे चतुर राजन मैंने राजा बलि के अहंकार को दूर करने के निर्मित एवं इनके सत्य की परीक्षा लेने के लिए ऐसा किया सत्य जानू मेरी कृपा से प्राणी का अहंकार नष्ट हो जाता है और अमर यश प्राप्त होता है हाथ में मानव अंतरण के आने पर हम इन्हें देव लोक का राज्य प्रदान कर आएंगे यह कह कर भगवान ने अपना चरण उतारकर राजा बलि के मस्तक पर रख दिया और बोले यह देते राजबली तुम्हारे संकल्प ता अनुसार तीन पग भूमि मुझे प्राप्त हुई वामन भगवान ने इस प्रकार राजा बलि के संकल्प को पूरा किया और आशीर्वाद प्रदान किया हे राजा बलि तुम्हारा कल्याण हो और अपने कुटुंब सहित सुतार लोग में जाकर निवास करो वहां का राज्य तुम्हें दान करता हूं मैं स्वयं वामन रूप में सदैव तेरे द्वार पर खड़ा रहूंगा

But I will definitely give it in the land, then God will say Vamana O King Bali proudly told you that you ask for whatever you want and I am seeing that there is no power to provide even three steps of land and said to Guru ji, Agro, this is not fulfilling your promise, so tie it to the earth. Put it, Guru ji, following the orders of Lord Vamana, tied King Bali, yet the king could not be sacrificed, that you took away the glory of my kingdom by deceit. They were saying that it is not proper to tie King Bali to him and said to him that I am the king and the demon lord Vaman ji is testing the truth of the king, you people should not worry, after that the husband of the triloki incarnation of Vamana incarnation, God said that you perform yajna etc. Indra King Bali did not get distracted even after hearing that he wanted to get a higher position, but due to his inability to donate fully and disobeying the words of Guru Shukracharya, King Bali did not get distracted and requested that he should give charity. If I know that you have taken the steps you have taken up in one moment with people down in on another. I have measured all the people and my body is of no importance in front of him, yet instead of the third pucca earth, by placing your feet on my head, please do not my body, O Lord, if I kindly give charity to you like a miser, still this wealth Wealth, splendor and kingdom do not go with me, you did me a blessing in the family of devotee Pahlada by giving birth to me and destroying the ego of wealth etc After coming down and prostrate to the Lord, he said, oh devotee, just as you had given the kingdom of all three people to your king Bali, in the same way, you have snatched the kingdom of the three people and given the right punishment because the creature becomes arrogant after getting wealth and opulence, I salute you. After that, the queen of Rajbali, Queen Vidyan Vati has said that you are the creator of all the people, you are the creator and loser, you create and destroy the universe in the game, what can we all the creatures give to you, after that Brahma ji requested then Lord Vamana smilingly said, O clever king, I have got the power of the king. Made to remove one's ego and to test their truth, I did this to know the truth, by my grace the ego of the creature is destroyed and immortal fame is attained, on the arrival of human transfer in hand, we give them the kingdom of God. By saying that he would come, God took off his feet and placed it on King Bali's head and said, "Giving this, I received three steps of land according to your resolve, Lord Vamana, thus fulfilled King Bali's resolve and blessed him, O king. May the sacrifice be your welfare and go and reside in the carpenters along with your family, I donate the kingdom there to you, I myself will always stand at your door in the form of Vamana.
