बाणासुर को वर प्राप्ति 

जन्म जय द्वारा आगरा किए जाने पर वैश्य बनाने उसे महा प्रतापी और शिव भक्त बाणासुर की कथा भी सुनाई जो इस प्रकार है वह सपना ने कहा एक बार महाबली वन अशोक ने खेलते हुए कार्तिकेय को देखा कार्तिकेय के रूप से अति प्रभावित होकर बाणासुर को स्वयं शिव का पुत्र बनने की इच्छा हुई तब उसने अत्यंत कठोर तपस्या कर पार्वती सहित शिव को प्रसन्न किया और उसे ने तीन व मांगे पहला शिव तथा दूसरे पार्वती उसे पार्वती उसे अपना पुत्र माने दूसरा उसके अत्यंत बलशाली एक हजार हाथ हो और तीसरा उसका नगर की रक्षा का उत्तरदायित्व स्वयं भगवान शिव अपने ऊपर ले ले मेरा जान आशुतोष और भक्त भाषा लिए भोले भंडारी शिव ने कृपा वास तीनों वर्गो उसको दे दिए और कार्तिकेय के आवास सुधीर पूर्व जहां अग्नेसेे कार्तिकेय प्रगट हुए थे के समीप ही बाणासुर को अपना पुत्र मारने का प्रमाण देते हुए वाना के लिए सोपी पूर्व नामक नगर की व्यवस्था की हे राजन जैसा कि प्रयास होता है वरदान पाकर वाण और भी अहंकारी और नील कुछ हो गया कार्तिकेय ने भी शिव के वर्क का आदर करते हुए उसे अपना छोटा भाई समझ कर अपना आग्नीध्वज तथा कहीं भी निंबोद गति में जा सकने वाला सुंदर वहां मोड़ दे दिया था वाड़ा छोड़ने तब आपने प्रक्रम द्वारा देवताओं गंधर्व यक्ष ओकीना राक्षसों व्यक्तियों तथा शुरू हुआ डालो आदि सभी को पराजित किया शिव के प्रसाद से उसके सम्मुख युद्ध में कोई भी नहीं ठहर सकता था इस प्रकार सबको जीतकर पुनः आई युद्ध मंद से पीड़ित होता हुआ वह महाशुर शिव जी के पास पहुंचा और गर्व में भरकर इस प्रकार बोला हे प्रभु मुझ से युद्ध करने के लिए कोई भी शेष नहीं बचा है सब मुझ से पराजित हो चुके हैं मैं आपकी भुजाओं की पाखंड किस प्रकार मिटा हूं अब किस से युद्ध करो हे शूल प्राणी यदि मुझे यूं ही हाथ पर हाथ रखकर बैठना है तो मेरे इन 1000 भुजाओं से क्या लाभ है अतः कृपा कर मुझे बताएं मेरे योग युद्ध कौन है मुझे कब युद्ध प्राप्त होगा तब उसे अभिमान की बात सुनकर भगवान शंकर हंसते हुए बोले अमंगल की पूर्व सूचना पुत्र तुम्हें तुम्हारे योग्यता शीघ्र ही प्राप्त होगा वह योद्धा तुम्हारे समस्त भुजाओं की प्रखंड भली प्रकार मिटाने वाला होगा उसे युद्ध करने के बाद फिर तुम्हें कोई अन्य युद्ध करने का ना तो विचार होगा और ना ही अवसर मिलेगा जिस दिन तुम्हारे दुर्ग की ध्वजा टूट कर गिर जाएगी तब समझ लेना कि तुमको वहां पर प्रतिमा युद्ध युद्ध के लिए प्राप्त करने लग वाला है तब वह महाबली शीघ्र बराबरी का युद्ध प्राप्त होता होगा इस प्रकार से हर्षित होता हुआ शोषित पर्व को लौट गया वह उसके मंत्री रिमांड ने उससे उसकी प्रसन्नता का कारण पूछा तो उसे मंडल को सारी बात कह दी यह सुनकर प्रमंडल चिकित्सा वर्ग में बोला है स्वामी यह तो कोई प्रसन्नता का विषय नहीं है भगवान शिव द्वारा कहे गए यह वचन शुभ अर्थ वाले नहीं है किंतु भाड़ में स्टार्स करते हुए कहा अरे को मंडल में तीनों लोगों में भगवान शिव के अतिरिक्त किसी को भी नहीं डरता अभी हु इस प्रकार बात कर ही रहे थे कि दुर्गा की ध्वज इंद्र के ब्रिज से आहत होकर टूट कर नीचे आ गिरी ध्वजा के टूटने ही भारी अपशगुन होने लगे जिसे कमांड बहुत ही चिंतित हो बैठा किंतु मूर्ख बाणासुर युद्ध की कामना से हर्षित होने लगा कुमार को चिंतित देखकर वह उसे सांत्वना देते हुए बोला तुम्हें इन उत्पादों के दोष से डरना नहीं चाहिए जिसने भी मेरा युद्ध होगा मैं उसे अवश्य मार डालूंगा और फिर शिव स्वयं इस पूर्व के रक्षा है फिर भला हमें किस से डर हो सकता है आओ आनंद पूर्वक मदिरापान करें किंतु कुमाऊँ मंडल निश्चित ना हुआ और मदिरा पीकर महल के अंदर चला गया
