ब्रह्मा जी ने कहा है नारद मैं विष्णु तथा अन्य सभी देवता रति को साथ लेकर शिवजी की शरण में गए और उन्हें प्रणाम करके इस प्रकार की स्तुति करने लगे हे प्रभु हम सब लोग शोक रूपी समुद्र में डूब रहे हैं अतः आप हमारा उद्धार करने की कृपा करें हमारे प्रार्थना को सुनकर शिवजी ने प्रगट होकर दर्शन दिया उसे समय परम महत्व के समान रूप धारण किए हुए थे उसके उसे सुंदर रूप को देखकर हम सबको अत्यंत प्रसन्नता हुई तब मैं अलग-अलग खड़े होकर शिवजी की प्रार्थना की शिवजी ने प्रसन्न होकर हम सबको संबोधित करते हुए कहा है देवताओं तुम सबने जो हमारी स्तुति की है उसे हम अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए हैं जो मनुष्य ही स्थिति को पड़ेगा उसे पर हम सदैव कृपा किया करेंगे अब तुम जो चाहे वह हमसे मांग लो शिव जी के मुख से निकले हुए इन शब्दों को सुनकर हमने उनसे कहा हे प्रभु आप हमारे मन की इच्छा को भली भांति जानते हैं हम स्वयं आपसे क्या कहें है नारद यह सुनकर शिव जी ने हंसते हुए कहा है देवताओं हमने ब्रह्मा के श्राप को सत्य करने के लिए ही कामदेव को भस्म किया अब तुम्हें यह वरदान देते हैं कि आज से कामदेव शरीर रहित होकर अतुल के नाम से संसार में प्रसिद्ध होगा और उसकी उत्पत्ति मां के द्वारा हुआ करेगी उचित समय आने पर हम रीती को उसका स्वरूप दिखा देंगे तब वह हमारे पास किसी कैलाश पर्वत पर निवास करेगी जब द्वापर युग में विष्णु का अवतार कृष्ण के रूप में होगा तब कामदेव कृष्ण के पुत्र के रूप में जन्म लेंगे उसे समय वह रति को पुन प्राप्त कर लेंगे अब रति को उचित है कि वह उसे समय के आने तक इंद्र के यहां जाकर रहे और अपने मन में किसी प्रकार का दुख न माने वह बिना कोई परिश्रम किया अपने पति को पुन प्राप्त कर लेगी जब रुक्मणी के गर्व से पुत्र के रूप में कामदेव की उत्पत्ति होती है उसे समय इंद्र उसे उठा ले जाएगा और समुद्र में डाल देगा वहां समुद्र में एक मछली उसे निकल जाएगी पर हमारे प्रताप से उसकी मृत्यु नहीं होगी उसे मछली को एक केवट अपने जाल में फंसा लगा और उसे सब्र नामक एक असुर की भेंट कर देगी उसे समय मछली का पेट फाड़ जाएगा उसे समय कामदेव जिसका नाम उसे समय प्रदुमन प्रसिद्ध होगा प्रगट होकर रति के पास गुप्त रूप से रहेगा तदुपरांत वह बालक उसे असुर को मार कर यहां चला आएगा इतना कहकर शिवजी सबके देखते देखते अंतर ध्यान हो गए फिर देवताओं ने भी रति को इंद्र के साथ कर दिया और अपने-अपने स्थान को चले गए फिर नारद कामदेव का चरित्र तुमसे कहा अब तुम गिरजा का वृतांत सुनो

Brahma Ji said, Narad, I, Vishnu and all other gods along with Rati went to the shelter of Lord Shiva and bowing to him, started praying in this way, O Lord, we all are drowning in the sea of sorrow, so please save us. On hearing our prayers, Lord Shiva appeared and gave darshan. At that time, he had taken the form of the supreme importance. On seeing his beautiful form, we all were very happy. Then we stood separately and prayed to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva addressed us all and said, Gods, we are very happy with the praise you all have given us. We will always bless the person who will be in a bad state. Now whatever you want, ask us. On hearing these words coming out of Lord Shiva's mouth, we said to him, O Lord, you know the desire of our heart very well. What do we have to say to you? On hearing this, Lord Shiva said smilingly, Gods, we burnt Kaamdev to make Brahma's curse come true. Now we give you this boon that from today, Kaamdev will be bodiless and will be famous in the world by the name of Atul. He will be born from his mother. When the right time comes, we will show his form to Riti. Then she will live with us on some Kailash mountain. When in Dwapar Yuga, Vishnu will be incarnated as Krishna. Then Kaamdev will be born as Krishna's son. At that time, he will get Rati back. Now it is appropriate for Rati to go and stay at Indra's place till the time comes and not feel any kind of sorrow in her heart. She will get her husband back without doing any hard work. When Kaamdev is born as a son from Rukmani's pride, Indra will pick him up and throw him in the sea. There, a fish will catch him in the sea. But due to our power, he will not die. A boatman will trap that fish in his net and will gift it to an Asur named Sabra. At that time, the stomach of the fish will be torn. At that time, Kaamdev, who will be famous by the name of Praduman, will appear and will stay secretly with Rati. Thereafter, that child will kill that Asur and come here. Saying this, Shivji went into deep meditation in front of everyone. Then the Gods also made Rati with Indra. They gave their blessings and went to their respective places. Then Narada told you the story of Kamadeva. Now listen to the story of Girija.
