इतना कथा सुनकर सूट की बोल ही शौकत इस चरित्र के सुनने के पश्चात नरत ने ब्रह्मा जी से कहा है पिता आप आप मुझे शिवजी के अन्य चरित्र के विषय में बताएं ब्रह्मा जी बोले हैं नारद तुमको तथा तुम्हारी बुद्धि को धन्य है जो तुम्हें शिवजी क कितनी भक्ति है मैंने वेदों को बहुत ही जाना है तथा उसे जो कुछ भी सीख प्राप्त की है उसका मूल तुमसे वर्णन करता हूं यह नारद पहले प्रत्येक मनुष्य आशा संख्या जन्मांतर हमारी पूजा करके विष्णु जी की भक्ति प्राप्त करता है फिर बहुत जनों तथा विषयो के उपासना करने के पश्चात शिवजी की प्रतीत उत्पन्न होती है तुमने संदेश शिवजी के परम भक्त हो अब मैं तुम्हें शिवजी का चरित्र सुनाता हूं तुम ध्यानपूर्वक सुनो किसी समय एक बार इंद्र एवं समस्त देवताओं ने शिव जी के दर्शन के लिए एक सभा की जिसमें 11 रुद्रा ब्रह्मा सूर्य आठ वसु तेरा विश्व देव 49 पवन समस्त दीपक तथा उपदेव आदि उपस्थित थे ऐसे समाज को अपने साथ लेकर इंद्र बड़े उत्साह के साथ रजोगुण धारण किए हुए शिव जी के दर्शन नाथ चले उसको संसार में केवल शिवजी के दर्शन से ही यश प्राप्त करना स्वीकार था उसे समय शिव जी ने अपनी लीला द्वारा अपना भाई रूप बनाया तथा अद्भुत के समान होकर वह इंद्र के नगर में प्रकट हुए उन्हें देखकर इंद्र से पूछा तुम कौन हो ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि जैसे तुम शिव जी के सेवक में से कोई हो यदि यह सत्य है तो तुम हमको शिवजी के निवास स्थान का पता बताओ इस प्रकार इंद्र ने कई बार पूछा परंतु उन्हें कोई उत्तर ना मिला यह देखकर इंद्र बहुत क्रोधित हुए तथा शिवजी को धमकाते हुए बोले अरे तू भूत तो नहीं जो उत्तर नहीं देता अब मैं तुझे अपराज से प्राप्त मार डालता हूं यह कहकर इंद्र ने अपना बाजरा शिवजी पर चलाया जो शिवजी ग्रेडन में जान लगा शिवजी उपज की शक्ति एवं प्रभाव की स्थिति रखने के लिए नीलकंठ हो गए अर्थ अर्थात उन्होंने अपने कास्ट स्वयं चिन्ह धारण कर लिया उसे समय बुरचरा भी जलकर भस्म हो गया दादू प्रांत शिवजी का तेज इतना बाबा उठा कि चारों ओर दाब फैल गया और सब देवता स्त्रियों सहित जलने लगे यह दशा देखकर सब खापित हुए तब राष्ट्रपति ने सदाशिव का ध्यान किया और पहचाना कि यह शिवजी ही है उसे समय हुए शिवजी की स्तुति करते हुए इंद्र से बोल ही इंद्रदेव या जो शंभू खड़े हैं वह स्वयं सदा शिव ही हैं तुम दंडवत कर इसकी स्तुति करो यह नारद तब इंद्र बृहस्पति तथा समस्त देवता शिव जी की स्तुति करते हुए इस प्रकार बोले है महाराज आप हमारा यह अपराध मन करें हम तो आपके दर्शन के लिए ही जा रहे हैं परंतु आपने स्वयं कृपा करके गुप्त तरीके से बिना किसी परिश्रम के हम सबको दर्शन दिए शिव जी ऐसे उत्तम एवं स्तुति सुनकर अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और भोला है देवताओं हम तुम बहुत प्रसन्न हैं आप तुम अपनी इच्छा अनुसार वरदान मांगो शिवजी कैसे वचन सुनकर देव गुरु ने कहा है शिव जी आप आप क्रोध दूर करके इंद्र की रक्षा करें तथा आपके बाल पर जो तेज रूप नेत्र है इसकी प्राचीनता दूर हो जाए यह वचन सुनकर शिवजी बोले है बृहस्पति उसे आदमी को जो हमारे नेत्र से निकल गई है अब हम किसी प्रकार अपने बाल में स्थान नहीं दे सकते हम इस तेज को बहुत दूर फेंक देते हैं जिससे इंद्र को कष्ट नहीं होगा तुमने इंद्र को जीवन दान दिया है इसलिए आज से तुम्हारा नाम जीव प्रसिद्ध होगा या सुनकर बृहस्पति एवं इंद्र आदि अध्ययन प्रसन्न तब शिवजी ने उसे तेज को अपने हाथ से समुद्र में फेंक दिया तथा अंतर ध्यान हो गए

After listening to this story, Narat said to Brahma ji, father, you tell me about other characters of Lord Shiva. Brahma ji said, Narad, you and your intelligence are blessed that you have so much devotion for Lord Shiva. I know the Vedas very well and whatever I have learnt from them, I am narrating the essence of it to you. This Narad, first every human being gets the devotion of Lord Vishnu by worshipping us in a certain number of births, then after worshipping many people and objects, the image of Lord Shiva is created. You are a great devotee of Lord Shiva, now I am narrating the character of Lord Shiva to you, listen carefully. Once upon a time, Indra and all the gods organized a meeting for the darshan of Lord Shiva, in which 11 Rudras, Brahma, Surya, eight Vasus, Tera Vishwa Dev, 49 Pawan, all Deepak and sub-gods etc. were present. Taking such a group with him, Indra, wearing Rajogun, went to have the darshan of Lord Shiva with great enthusiasm. He was ready to get fame in the world only by seeing Lord Shiva. At that time, through his leela, Lord Shiva made him his brother and He appeared in Indra's city like an amazing being. Seeing him, Indra asked him who are you. It seems as if you are one of the servants of Lord Shiva. If this is true, then tell us the address of Lord Shiva's residence. Indra asked this many times but he did not get any answer. Seeing this, Indra became very angry and threatened Lord Shiva and said, "Are you a ghost that you do not answer? Now I will kill you with the blessings of Aparaaj." Saying this, Indra threw his millet at Lord Shiva which got stuck in the fire. Lord Shiva became Neelkanth to maintain the power and influence of the produce. That time, Burchara also burnt to ashes. Lord Shiva's brilliance rose so much that pressure spread all around and all the gods including women started burning. Seeing this condition, everyone was stunned. Then the President meditated on Sadashiv and recognized that this is Lord Shiva. At that time, while praising Lord Shiva, he said to Indra, "Indradev or the Shambhu standing here is Sada Shiva himself. You bow down and praise him." Narad then praised Indra, Brihaspati and all the gods, Shiva and said, Maharaj, please forgive our sin. We were only going to see you, but you yourself graciously gave us darshan in a secret way without any effort. Shiva became very happy on hearing such a great praise and innocent gods, we are very happy. You all ask for a boon as per your wish. On hearing this, Dev Guru said, Shiva, please remove your anger and protect Indra and the antiquity of the eye in the form of light on your hair should go away. On hearing this, Shiva said, Brihaspati, that person who has come out of my eye, now I cannot give any place in my hair, I will throw this light very far away, so that Indra will not be hurt. You have given life to Indra, therefore from today your name will be famous as Jeev. On hearing this, Brihaspati and Indra etc. became happy, then Shiva threw that light from his hand in the sea and went into deep meditation.
