ब्रह्मा जी बोले हे पुत्र शिव जी एवं वास्तु कहते हुए इस प्रकार बोले है गौतम तुम्हारे साथ मुनियों ने बड़ा छल किया है तथा निरपराध होते हुए भी तुम्हें इस प्रकार दुख पहुंचा है अब उन्हें ऐसी हत्या लगेगी फिर हुए कभी आनंद प्राप्त न कर सकेंगे यह सब ब्राह्मण मिथ्यशास्त्र को धारण करने वाले होंगे क्योंकि जो प्राणी हमारे भक्तों को दुख पहुंचता अथवा निंदा करता है उसे कभी भी आनंद प्राप्त नहीं होता यह सुनकर गौतम ऋषि ने हाथ जोड़कर कहा हे प्रभु इन मुनियों ने मेरे साथ कोई बुराई नहीं की सच पूछा जाए तो इन्हीं की युक्ति पर चलने से मुझे आपके दर्शन प्राप्त हुए हैं हे नारद गौतम के इन विनम्र वचनों को सुनकर शिवजी अत्यंत प्रसन्न होकर बोले आप तुम्हें जिस क की इच्छा हो वह वार और मांग लो यह सुनकर गौतम ने कहा हे प्रभु आप मुझे गंगा जी प्रदान करने की कृपा करें यह सुनकर शिवजी अपने मस्तक से गंगा को उतार कर गौतम ऋषि को दे दिया गंगा जी को देखकर गौतम ऋषि अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और फिर उन्होंने स्त्री स्वरूप गंगा जी को प्रणाम करते हुए कहा है मटेश्वर आप मेरे ऊपर कृपा करके मुझे शुद्धता प्रदान करें तभी शिवजी ने भी गंगा जी से इस प्रकार कहा है गंजे तुम गौतम को अपना सेवक समझकर इसके पापों को दूर कर दो हे नारद शिवजी की आज्ञा सुनकर गंगा जी ने उत्तर दिया है प्रभु आप मुझे जो आज्ञा दे रहे हैं उनका तो मैं पालन करूंगा परंतु मैं गौतम को स्कूल सहित पवित्र करने के उपरांत फिर अपने स्थान को लौट आऊंगी शिवजी बोले हे गंगे हमारे यही अभिलाषा है कि जब तक वह स्वस्थ मानवता का प्रारंभ ना हो उसे समय तक तुम यही स्थिति रहो इस प्रकार शिवजी ने जब गंगा जी से बहुत कुछ कहा तब गौतम ने भी उसकी बहुत स्तुति कि उसे समय गंगा जी ने यह उत्तर दिया है कैलाशपति यदि मेरी महिमा यहां बहुत हो और आप गिर जाता था आपने गानों सहित मेरे तट पर निवास करना स्वीकार करें तो मैं स्वतः मन्वंतरण के आरंभ तक यही बनी रहूंगी परंतु जिन ब्राह्मणों ने गौतम को दुख पहुंचा है उन्हें मैं पवित्र नहीं करूंगी गंगा जी की इस बात को शिवजी ने मान लिया उसे समय मैं विष्णु जी तथा अन्य सब देवता शिव जी को वहां विराजमान जानकर उसे स्थान में जा पहुंचे संपूर्ण तीर्थ तथा क्षेत्र भी अपने अपने स्वरूप धारण कर वहां आ गए तब हम सब ने शिवजी एवं गंगा जी की बहुत प्रकार से सेवा तथा प्रश्नसा की हे नारद उसे समय हम सब की स्तुति सुनकर शिव जी ने प्रसन्न होकर वरदान मांगने के लिए कहा तब हमने उनसे यह प्रार्थना की कि आप अर्थ रूपी से गंगा जी सहित यही विराजमान रहे उसे समय गंगा जी ने हम सबको संबोधित करते हुए कहा है देवताओं यदि तुम हमें स्वरूप परी समझो तो हम शिवजी सहित यही निवास करेंगे इस बात को सभी लोगों ने स्वीकार किया और बोले हे गंगे जिस समय सिंह राशि में के बृहस्पति होंगे वह समय उसकी महिमा के लिए तीनों में प्रसिद्ध होगा 12 वर्ष बाद वह समय आने पर हम सब लोग यहां आकर स्नान करेंगे तथा शिव जी के दर्शन करके अपने पापों को नष्ट करेंगे उसे दिन से जब सिंह राशि पर बृहस्पति आते हैं तब सब देवता और ऋषि मुनि सहित माय तथा विष्णु जी वहां जाकर गंगा में स्नान करते हैं एवं शिवजी का पूजन करते हैं

Brahma Ji said, O son of Shiv Ji and Vastu, Gautam, the sages have cheated you and despite being innocent, they have hurt you in this way. Now they will be punished for this murder and will never be able to get happiness again. All these Brahmins must be the followers of false scriptures because the person who hurts or criticizes our devotees never gets happiness. Hearing this, Gautam Rishi folded his hands and said, O Lord, these sages have not done any evil to me. If truth be told, then I have got your darshan by following their advice. O Narada. Hearing these humble words of Gautam, Shiv Ji became very happy and said, you can ask for anything you want. Hearing this, Gautam said, O Lord, please bless me with Ganga Ji. Hearing this, Shiv Ji took Ganga off his head and gave it to Gautam Rishi. Gautam Rishi became very happy on seeing Ganga Ji and then bowing to the female form of Ganga Ji, he said, Mateshwar, please bless me and give me purity. Then Shiv Ji also said this to Ganga Ji. Ganja, consider Gautam as your servant and remove his sins. O Narada, on hearing Shivji's command, Ganga ji replied, "Prabhu, I will follow the orders you are giving me, but after purifying Gautam along with his body, I will return to my place." Shivji said, "O Ganga, it is our desire that you remain in this state till the time healthy humanity does not start." In this way, when Shivji said a lot to Ganga ji, then Gautam also praised her a lot. At that time, Ganga ji replied, "O Kailashpati, if my glory becomes very great here and you accept to reside on my banks along with your bodies, then I will automatically remain here till the beginning of the Manvantar, but I will not purify those Brahmins who have hurt Gautam." Shivji accepted this thing of Ganga ji. At that time, Vishnu ji and all other gods, knowing Shiv ji to be seated there, reached that place. All the pilgrimages and regions also came there assuming their respective forms. Then we all served and prayed to Shiv ji and Ganga ji in many ways. O Narada, at that time On hearing our prayers, Shiv Ji became pleased and asked us to ask for a boon. We prayed to him that he should stay here in the form of wealth along with Ganga Ji. At that time Ganga Ji addressed all of us and said, Gods, if you consider us as fairies, then we will reside here along with Shiv Ji. All people accepted this and said, O Ganga, the time when Jupiter will be in Leo sign, that time will be famous among the three for its glory. After 12 years, when that time comes, we all will come here and take bath and destroy our sins by having the darshan of Shiv Ji. From that day, when Jupiter comes in Leo sign, then all the Gods, sages, saints along with Maa Durga and Vishnu Ji go there and take bath in Ganga and worship Shiv Ji.
