ब्रह्मा जी बोले हे नारद अगस्त्य मुनि के उपदेश अनुसार रामचंद्र जी ने अपने संपूर्ण शरीर में भस्म मली तथा रुद्राक्ष धारण किया फिर हुए लक्ष्मण को रक्षा के निर्माता द्वारा पर बैठकर वेद में वर्णित शिव सहस्त्रनाम का जाप करने लगा रामचंद्र के पुस्तक से प्रसन्न हो शिवाजी ने दर्शन दिया था उन्होंने अपने गोद में बैठ कर यह कहा हे रामचंद्र हम तुम्हें अत्यंत प्रसन्न है तुम जो चाहे वह वह हमसे मांग लो शिव जी के श्री मुख से ऐसे वचन सुनकर रामचंद्र बोले हे प्रभु मैं रावण का वध करके सीता को प्राप्त करना चाहता हूं उसे समय शिवजी ने प्रशांत होकर रामचंद्र को धनुष बाण सहित अपना तेज प्रदान किया तदुपरांत रामचंद्र ऋषि पर्वत पर पहुंचकर सुग्रीव तथा हनुमान से मिले और हनुमान को सीता का पता लगाने के लिए भेजा जब हनुमान सीता का पता लगाकर लंका से लौट आई तब रामचंद्र अपनी सेवा को साथ ले रावण से युद्ध करने के लिए चले समुद्र तट पर पहुंचने पर सब उन्होंने यह देखा कि आगे किस प्रकार नहीं बढ़ जा सकता है तब उन्होंने अत्यंत चिंतित होकर वहां एक शिवलिंग की स्थापना की रामचंद्र की प्रार्थना पर शिवजी इस लिंग से प्रकट हुए तथा विराट स्वरूप धारण कर वर मांगने के लिए कहने लगे उसे समय रामचंद्र ने उसे ज्योति स्वरूप शिव जी को देखकर यह प्रार्थना की है प्रभु मेरी यही इच्छा है कि मैं सी सहित समुद्र के पर उतरकर रावण पर विजय प्राप्त करूंगा तथा मेरी अभिलाषा है कि आप मेरे द्वारा स्थापित इस शिवलिंग मैं सदैव निवास कर संसार को सुख पहुंचा करें शिवजी ने इस प्रार्थना को साहस स्वीकार कर लिया तदुपरांत हुए एवं वास्तु कहते हुए रामचंद्र द्वारा स्थापित शिवलिंग में प्रवेश कर गए हे नारद रामचंद्र ने जो शिवलिंग स्थापित किया था वह रामेश्वरम के नाम से तीनों लोक में प्रसिद्ध हुआ रामचंद्र लक्ष्मण सुग्रीव जामवन हनुमान तथा अंगद आदि ने उसे शिवलिंग का पूजन करके अत्यंत आनंद प्राप्त किया तब उपरांत रामचंद्र समुद्र पर पुल बांधकर लंका पुरी में जा पहुंचे वहां उन्होंने रावण को कल सहित मार डाला और विभीषण को वहां का राज डी स्वयं सीता सहित अपने अयोध्या पुरी को लौट आवे हे नारद जो मनुष्य रामेश्वरम शिवलिंग पर गंगाजल चढ़ता है वह दोनों लोक में सुख प्राप्त करता है वह पूर्ण सत्य है कि रामेश्वर शिवलिंग की पूजा करने से सब प्रकार के मनोरथ पूर्ण होते हैं

Brahma Ji said, O Narada, as per the advice of Agastya Muni, Ramchandra Ji smeared ashes on his entire body and wore Rudraksha. Then, Laxman sat on the door of the protector and started chanting Shiv Sahasranama mentioned in the Vedas. Pleased with Ramchandra's teachings, Shiva Ji appeared before him. He sat on his lap and said, O Ramchandra, we are very pleased with you. Ask us for whatever you want. Hearing such words from the mouth of Shiva, Ramchandra said, O Lord, I want to kill Ravana and get Sita. At that time, Shiva became calm and gave his power along with bow and arrow to Ramchandra. Thereafter, Ramchandra reached the Rishi mountain, met Sugreeva and Hanuman and sent Hanuman to find Sita. When Hanuman returned from Lanka after finding Sita, then Ramchandra took his servants along and went to fight with Ravana. On reaching the seashore, he saw that he could not proceed further. Then, being very worried, he established a Shivling there. On Ramchandra's prayer, Shiva appeared from this Linga and assumed a huge form and asked him to ask for a boon. At that time Ramchandra saw Shiva in the form of light and prayed that Lord, my only wish is that I will cross the sea with Sita and defeat Ravana and my desire is that you should always reside in this Shivaling established by me and bring happiness to the world. Shiva accepted this prayer with courage and thereafter he entered the Shivaling established by Ramchandra while saying Vastu. O Narada. The Shivaling established by Ramchandra became famous in the three worlds by the name of Rameswaram. Ramchandra, Laxman, Sugreeva, Jamvan, Hanuman and Angad etc. got immense pleasure by worshipping that Shivaling. After that Ramchandra built a bridge on the sea and reached Lanka Puri. There he killed Ravana along with Sita and made Vibhishan the king of that place and himself returned to Ayodhya Puri. O Narada, the person who offers Gangajal on Rameswaram Shivaling gets happiness in both the worlds. It is completely true that all kinds of desires are fulfilled by worshipping Rameshwar Shivling.
