श्री शिव महापुराण कथा नवा खंड अध्याय 13

ब्रह्मा जी ने कहा हे नारद अब मैं तुमसे एक और इतिहास कहता हूं जिसमें रुद्राक्ष की महिमा प्रगति है इस अभियान को सुनने से शिवजी के चरणों में अधिक प्रतीत उत्पन्न होती है प्राचीन काल में कश्मीर में मातृशिन नामक राजा राज करता था उसका सुधर्मा नामक पुत्र अत्यंत बलवान बुद्धिमान तथा शिवजी का परम भक्त था राजा के मंत्री के पुत्र का नाम तर्क था वह भी अत्यंत शीलवंत तथा विद्वान था राजा के पुत्र तथा मंत्री के पुत्र ने अत्यंत मित्रता थी वह दोनों परम सुंदर थे तथा साथ ही साथ विद्या ज्ञान करते थे उन्होंने बिना उपदेश के ही रुद्राक्ष की महिमा को जान लिया था हे नारद एक दिन पराशर मुनि राजा के यहां जा पहुंचे राजा ने उन्हें सर्वस्त्र जानकर अत्यंत आदर्श सत्कार किया तथा इसी सेवा की जिससे वह अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए तदुपरांत राजा ने हाथ जोड़कर दंडवत करते हुए मुनि से यह प्रार्थना की है प्रभु मेरा पुत्र तथा मंत्री का पुत्र दोनों ही रुद्राक्ष को इस प्रकार धारण करते हैं कि एक पल के लिए भी उन्हें नहीं थैयाते यद्यपि मैं उन्हें बहुत उपदेश दी किया परंतु वह किसी प्रकार नहीं मानते हुए बिना किसी से विधि पूछे हुए अपनी बुद्धि के अनुसार रुद्राक्ष धारण करते हैं आज तो आप मुझे यह बताने की कृपा कीजिए कि इसका वास्तविक कारण क्या है हे नारद राजा की है प्रार्थना सुनकर पाराशर जी ने कहा है राजन तुम अपने पुत्र तथा मंत्री के पुत्री के पूर्व जन्म का वृतांत सुनो पुरातत्व समय में महानंदा नमाज एक वेश्या नंदीग्राम में रहती थी वह परम सुंदरी तथा अत्यंत धनवान थी उसने एक बंदर तथा एक कुत्ते को पालकर उन्हें नित्य करना सीखा था वह अन्य बहुत सी स्त्रियों सहित शिवजी की स्थिति गति तथा अपने बंदर एवं कुत्ते को रुद्राक्ष पहन कर ना चाहती थी हुए दोनों इस प्रकार नाचते थे कि उनके नृत्य दर्शन अत्यंत प्रिय लगता था इसी प्रकार वह वैश्य नमक शिव भक्ति में चलना रहती तथा कुत्ते और बंदर को नित्य करते हुए अध्ययन प्रसन्नता प्राप्त करती थी सहयोग वास एक दिन उसे वैश्य के घर में आग लग गई वेश्या में उन दोनों को शीघ्रतापूर्वक बाहर निकाल लिया परंतु भूत दिन से हुए दोनों फिर घर से लौट कर नहीं आया तथा दुखी होकर वन्य भ्रमण करते रहे समय आने पर रुद्र के धारण किए ही उनकी मृत्यु हो गई जिसके कारण उन्हें शिवलोक प्राप्त हुआ हे राजन वही बंदर तुम्हारे घर में पुत्र बनाकर उत्पन्न हुआ और इस कुत्ते ने मंत्री के घर में पुत्र बंद कर जन्म लिया यह दोनों पूर्व जन्म के मित्र रहता था इस रुद्राक्ष की महिमा का स्मरण कर इस जन्म में भी रुद्राक्ष धारण करते हैं यह दोनों रुद्राक्ष धारण करने तथा शिव पूजन करने के कारण पुणे शिवलोक को प्राप्त होंगे यह वृतांट्स उनका राजा ने पर असर मनी से कहा हे प्रभु आप कृपा करके मेरे पुत्र के भविष्य का हाल भी बताने की कृपा करें तब पाराशर जी ने उसे राज पुत्र को अपने निकट बुलाकर सर से पांव तक देखने के उपरांत इस प्रकार कहा है राजा इस बालक की अवस्था केवल 12 वर्ष की है आज से सातवें दिन या अवश्य मर जाएगा परंतु हम तुम्हें एक उपाय बताएं जिससे करने पर इसका जीवन बच सकता है भगवान सदा शिव के कल भी है मृत्यु शिवजी से हर समय भयभीत बने रहती है यदि शिवजी कृपा करें तो तुम्हारा पुत्र मृत्यु के मुख से बच सकता है इसलिए तुम्हें सर्वप्रथम यह उचित है कि तुम इसके द्वारा शिवजी का पूजन करो तथा उन्हें अनेक प्रकार से प्रशंसा करने का उपाय करो हे राजन आयु बढ़ाने की अनेक युक्तियां है परंतु उन सब में सरल शिवजी का पूजा नहीं मृत्यु से रक्षा करने में रुद्र अध्ययन अध्ययन प्रसिद्ध है अनेक प्रकार से शिवजी का पूजन करें तथा निश्चय पूर्वक सिवान धारण करें जो मनुष्य के संपूर्ण पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं और वह बहुत समय तक जीवित रहता है ऐसे व्यक्ति आप शिवजी सदैव प्रसन्न रहते हैं तुम जितनी बार शत्रुटी का अभिषेक कर आओगे उतने ही वर्ष तक तुम्हारा पुत्र जीवित बने रहेगा अस्तु तुम्हें या उचित है कि तुम इस सहस्त्र साथ होती का पाठ करके अपने पुत्र को स्नान करो इस उपाय से तुम्हारा पुत्र 10 शास्त्र वर्ष तक जीवित रहेगा तथा इतने ही समय तक निर्भय हो शत्रुओं पर विजय प्राप्त करता हुआ सुखपूर्वक राज करेगा हे नारद पाराशर मोदी ने ऐसे वचन सुन कर राजा ने बहुत से ब्राह्मणों को बुलाकर सा दिन में 10 सहस्त्र साथ त्रुटि का जाप करना आरंभ कर दिया तथा स्वयं भी उसे जब से सलाह रहा इस जाल से उसने अपने पुत्र को स्नान कराया सातवां दिन आने पर वह बालक कुछ देर के लिए मुर्जित हो गया परंतु थोड़े देर बाद चैतन्य अवस्था को प्राप्त कर उठ बैठा उसे समय पराशर मुनि ने उससे पूछा है राज्यान्न पुत्र मुरझा अवस्था में तुम्हारी क्या दशा हुई है तब राजपूत रहने या उत्तर दिया है मुनिराज मैंने यह देखा कि एक भयानक रुद्रधारी मनुष्य हाथ में डंडा लेकर मेरा वध करने के लिए आ रहा है परंतु इस समय एक महावीर ने आकर उसे मनुष्य को अपने वरुण पास से बांध लिया तथा वह उसे मारते पीटते हुए एक और चले गए या सुनकर पराशर मुनि ने अत्यंत प्रशंसा हो बालक को अनेक आशीर्वाद दिया राजा ने भी उसे समय आनंदित होकर पराशर मुनि तथा सभी ब्राह्मणों को बहुत सेवा की हे नारद जी समय राजा पराशर मुनि की प्रशंसा कर रहा था उसी समय तुम भी वहां जा पहुंचे तब राजा मैं तुम्हारा अत्यंत सम्मान करते हुए यह कहा हे प्रभु यदि आपने कोई आश्चर्य की बात अच्छी हो तो मुझे सुनने की कृपा करें तब तुमने उत्तर दिया है राजन हमने इस समय एक बहुत बड़ा आश्चर्य देखा वह आश्चर्य यह है कि तुम्हारे पुत्र को मारने के लिए मृत्यु आई है परंतु शिव जी ने उसकी रक्षा करने के लिए वीरभद्र को भेजो और उन्हें यह आज्ञा दी कि वह तुम्हारे पुत्र पर मृत्यु का कोई वासना चलने दे तब वीरभद्र मृत्यु को पकड़ कर कैलाश पर्वत की ओर ले गए और तुम्हारे पुत्र को अमृत पान करने का फल प्राप्त हुआ अब तुम्हारा पुत्र 10 सहस्त्र वर्षों तक जीवित रहकर निकटतम राज करेगा मंत्री का पुत्र भी तुम्हारे पुत्र का सेवा बंद कर बहुत सुख भोगेगा वह दोनों शिवजी के बड़े भक्त होंगे तथा अंत में शिवलोक को प्राप्त होकर शिव जी के गण बन जाएंगे इतना कह कर तुम अपने स्थान को लौट अवर जो लोग इस कथा को कहते अथवा सुनते उन्हें दोनों लोगों में सब प्रकार के सुख प्राप्त होते हैं

Brahma Ji said O Narada, now I tell you another history in which the glory of Rudraksha is mentioned. On listening to this story, one gets more devotion towards the feet of Lord Shiva. In ancient times, a king named Matrishin ruled in Kashmir. His son named Sudharma was very strong, intelligent and a great devotee of Lord Shiva. The name of the son of the king's minister was Tark. He was also very virtuous and learned. The king's son and the minister's son were very good friends. Both of them were very handsome and also had knowledge. They had understood the glory of Rudraksha without any teachings. O Narada, one day sage Parashar reached the king's place. The king gave him a very ideal welcome after giving him all the clothes and served him in such a way that he became very happy. Thereafter, the king bowed down with folded hands and prayed to the sage, "Lord, my son and the minister's son, both wear Rudraksha in such a way that they do not stop even for a moment. Although I gave them a lot of advice, but they do not listen in any way. Without asking anyone for the method, they wear Rudraksha according to their own intelligence. Today, you tell me Please tell me what is the real reason behind this. O Narada, on hearing the prayer of the king, Parashar ji said, O King, listen to the story of the previous birth of your son and the minister's daughter. In ancient times, a prostitute named Mahananda used to live in Nandigram. She was extremely beautiful and very rich. She had kept a monkey and a dog and had learnt to dance them daily. She, along with many other women, used to dance in the devotion of Lord Shiva and wearing Rudraksha on her monkey and dog, both used to dance in such a way that the sight of their dance was very pleasing. Similarly, the prostitute used to live in the devotion of Shiva and used to get happiness by dancing with the dog and the monkey daily. One day a fire broke out in the house of the prostitute. The prostitute quickly took both of them out, but both of them did not return home and kept wandering in the forest in sorrow. When the time came, they died after wearing Rudraksha due to which they attained Shivalok. O King, the same monkey was born as a son in your house and this dog was born as a son in the minister's house. Both of them were friends in the previous birth. Remembering the glory of this Rudraksha, wear Rudraksha in this birth also. By wearing both these Rudraksha and worshipping Shiva, Pune will attain Shivalok. This story is told by Parashar. The king said to Parashar, O Lord, please tell me about the future of my son. Then Parashar called the prince near him and after seeing him from head to toe, said, King, the age of this child is only 12 years from today, he will definitely die on the seventh day from today, but we will tell you a remedy by which his life can be saved. Lord Shiva is always with him, death is always afraid of Shiva. If Shiva is kind, then your son can be saved from the jaws of death. Therefore, first of all, it is appropriate for you to worship Shiva through this and try to praise him in many ways. O King, there are many methods to increase life span, but the simplest of them is not the worship of Shiva. Rudra study is famous for protecting from death. Worship Shiva in many ways and wear Sivan with determination, by which all the sins of a man are destroyed and he will live for a long time. Lord Shiva is always pleased with such a person. As many times as you perform the Abhishek of Shatruti, for that many years your son will remain alive. So it is appropriate that you recite this Sahastra Sath Hoti and bathe your son. By this remedy your son will remain alive for 10 Shastra years and for the same time he will fearlessly conquer his enemies and rule happily. O Narada Parashar Modi. On hearing such words, the king called many Brahmins and started chanting 10 Sahastra Sath Hoti in a day. He himself also bathed his son with this mantra. On the seventh day, the boy became numb for some time, but after a while he regained consciousness and sat up. At that time Parashar Muni asked him, son of the king, what is your condition in this numb state? Then he replied, O Rajput, I saw that a terrible Rudradhari man is coming with a stick in his hand to kill me, but at this time a Mahavir came and tied that man with his Varuna and he started beating him. Hearing this, Parashar Muni praised him a lot and gave many blessings to the boy. The king was also very happy and served Parashar Muni and all the Brahmins a lot. O Narad ji, when the king was praising Parashar Muni, at the same time you also reached there. The king, respecting you a lot, said, O Lord, if you have told me something surprising, please listen to it. Then you replied, O King, we have seen a very big surprise at this time. That surprise is that death has come to kill your son, but Shiv ji sent Veerbhadra to protect him and ordered him not to let any desire of death work on your son. Then Veerbhadra caught hold of death and took him to Mount Kailash and your son got the reward of drinking nectar. Now your son will live for 10 thousand years and rule the kingdom. Even the minister's son will stop serving your son and enjoy a lot of happiness.Both of them will be great devotees of Lord Shiva and in the end, after attaining Shivaloka, they will become Shiva's Ganas. Having said this, you return to your place. Those who narrate or listen to this story, they get all kinds of happiness in both the worlds.
