श्री शिव महापुराण कथा नवा खंड अध्याय 14

ब्रह्मा जी ने कहा हे नारद मैंने मुक्ति प्राप्त करने के लिए तुम्हें यह युक्ति बधाई है अब एक अन्य उपाय सुनो जिसके अनुसार आचरण करने पर शिवजी की भक्ति दिन होती है जी उपाय के करने से पाराशर के पुत्र वेदव्यासित हुए मैं उसका वर्णन करता शिवजी की कीर्तन तथा शिव जी के पूर्ण चरित्र का मिलन शिव जी के प्राप्त करने में अत्यंत सहायक होती सर्वप्रथम गुरु के मुख से शिव जी किया सुनने तथा स्वयं उनका पूजन तथा मनन करें ऐसे करने से शिवजी का लाभ होता है और सभी व्याधि नष्ट हो जाती है शिवजी के यश के संबंध में जो गीत हो वह चाहे वेद के पद हो अथवा देवताओं द्वारा बनाए गए हो अथवा मनुष्य के बने हुए सभी प्रकार के पदों के गायन से दूर होकर आनंद की प्राप्ति होती है इस प्रकार शिव जी का श्रवण करने तथा वर्णन करने के उपरांत उसका युक्ति पूर्वक शुद्ध हृदय से मनन करना चाहिए हे नारद सत्संग संगति में बैठने से शिवजी के गुण चरित्र का फल प्राप्त होता है दादू प्राण कीर्तन और अंत में मनन की प्राप्ति समझना चाहिए अस्तु शिव जी की प्रशांत के हेतु ही सब कार्य करने चाहिए यह युक्ति से शिवजी का पद प्राप्त करना अत्यंत सम होता है वह तथा पुराण की मनन की महिमा का वर्णन करते हैं जिस मनुष्य पर भगवान सदा शिव प्रसन्न होते हैं उसी को या श्रेष्ठ लाभ प्राप्त होता है इसके अतिरिक्त भगवान सदाशिव को प्राप्त करने का कोई उपाय नहीं है अब मैं ब्याज की कथा कहता हूं उसे तुम ध्यान पूर्वक सुनो हे नारद व्यास जी ने वेदों के चार भागों में बात कर दिन रात परिश्रम करके 18 पुराने का निर्माण किया परंतु तब भी उसके हृदय को संतोष नहीं हुआ इसलिए हुए मां को शुद्ध करने के हेतु ब्रह्म नदी के तट पर बैठकर तपस्या करने लगे उन्होंने शिवजी का ध्यान धरकर संपूर्ण इंद्रियों को जीत लिया सब शिवजी ने ब्याज जी को ऐसा कठिन तब करते हुए देखा तो उन्होंने परिश्रम होकर सतक कुंवर को ब्याज जी के निकट जाने की आज्ञा दी उसे समय शंकर कुमार ने ब्याज जी के पास पहुंच कर उन्हें अपना दर्शन दिया बिहारी ने शंकर कुमार का पूजन करते हुए उसकी बहुत प्रकार से स्तुति कि उसे समय मेरे पुत्र असम का कुंवर ने अत्यंत प्रसन्न होकर व्यास जी से इस प्रकार कहा है व्यास जी आप सुखदेव जी के पिता तथा ऋषि मुनियों के स्वामी है आपने जब जीवो पर दया करके वेद के कर भाग किए हैं तब सब का उपचार करने के हेतु 18 पुराने का निर्माण किया है परंतु हम आपसे यह पूछते हैं कि आप एक बड़े परिवार के संरक्षक होते हुए भी इस प्रकार कठिन तब क्यों कर रहे हैं हमें ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि आपका हृदय सा हो गया है हे नारद सका कुमार के मुख से यह वचन सुनकर व्यास जी ने उत्तर दिया है सन का कुंवर जी आपका कथन वास्तव में सत्य है मेन वेदों को विभाजित करके सब पुराने को बनाया है तथा परोपकार के लिए अत्यंत परिश्रम भी किया है मैं संसार में सब का गुरु बनकर प्रसिद्ध हुआ हूं परंतु इतने में भी मुझे मुक्तिद्धार्म का लाभ नहीं हुआ है इसलिए माया तपस्या कर रहा हूं इस तप के प्रभाव से यदि आप यहां मुझे सेवक समझ कर आए हैं तो कोई आश्चर्य की बात नहीं है क्योंकि आप सर्वोच्च तथा दूसरों की भलाई करने वाले हैं आशा है अब आप मुझे कृपा करके कोई ऐसा उपाय बताएं जिससे मेरा मन शुद्ध हो और मैं मुक्ति को प्राप्त करूंगा हे नारद यह सुनकर शंका कुमार ने उत्तर दिया हे व्यास जी शिव जी की माया को कोई नहीं जान सकता वह संपूर्ण संसार को मोहित करने वाली है शिव भक्तों के बिना वह सब लोगों को अनेक प्रकार के कष्ट भी देते हैं यदि अपनी वेदों के विभाग किया तथा पुराने को बनाया है परंतु इतने पर भी अपने ना तो धर्म को जाना है और ना शिवजी के तत्व को ही जाना है है व्यास जी पुरातन काल में माया ज्ञानी होकर संयम रूपी समुद्र में व्यर्थ ही ब्राह्मण करता रहा मैंने तीनों लोक में ब्राह्मण किया परंतु मुक्ति प्राप्त करने का उपाय मुझे ज्ञात नहीं हो सका तब मैं शिवजी की माया से मोहित हो मंदराचल पर्वत पर जा पहुंचा वहां मैंने एक स्थान पर निश्चल भाव से बैठकर बहुत समय तक एक आज रचित को घर तपस्या की मैंने इंद्रियों पर विजय प्राप्त करके शिवजी का स्मरण किया उसे समय शिवजी में प्रसन्न होकर मेरे सामने दूर करने के लिए नंदीश्वर को आज्ञा दी जब नंदेश्वर मेरे पास आए तब मैंने उन्हें प्रणाम करते हुए उनके आगमन का कारण पूछा उसे समय शिव जी के अंश तथा सभी गानों के स्वामी नंदेश्वर ने मुझ पर हत्या नानुगुरा करके इस प्रकार कहा है संकुवर भगवान सदा शिव के यश कीर्ति श्रवण तथा मदन युक्ति को देने वाला है आज तो तुम्हें भी यह उचित है कि तुम श्रवण कीर्तन तथा मनन इन तीनों कर्मों से दृढ़ता पूर्वक धारण करो इस प्रकार मुझे उपदेश देकर नंदेश्वर शिव जी के समीप चले गए उसे समय मुझे अत्यंत आनंद प्राप्त हुआ वस्तु है व्यास जी आपको भी यह उचित है कि आप भी इन तीनों उपाय का आसरा लेकर मुक्ति को प्राप्त करें इस प्रकार व्यास जी को शिक्षा देकर वसंतकुमार विमान पर अरुण हो अपने लोक को लौट आए इतनी कथा सुना कर नारद जी ने कहा हे पिता यदि कोई मनुष्य इन तीनों उपायों को ना कर सके तो उसके लिए अन्य सुगम साधन और क्या हो सकता है यह आप मुझे बताने की कृपा करें ब्रह्मा जी बोले हैं नारद यदि कोई मनुष्य इन तीनों का साधन न कर सके तो उसे चाहिए कि वह भक्ति पूर्वक केवल शिवलिंग का ही पूजन करें इस प्रकार केवल पूजन करने मात्र से ही बहुत से लोगों अपने मनोरथ को प्राप्त कर चुके हैं यदि हृदय में भक्ति हो तो श्रवण आदि तीनों उपाय एवं के बिना भी मुक्ति मिल जाती है

Brahma Ji said, O Narada, I have given you this method to attain salvation. Now listen to another method, by following which, the devotion of Lord Shiva is attained. By following this method, Parashar's son became Vedvyasit. I am describing it. The kirtan of Lord Shiva and the union of the complete character of Lord Shiva are very helpful in attaining Lord Shiva. First of all, listen to the kirtan of Lord Shiva from the mouth of the Guru and worship and meditate on him yourself. By doing this, Lord Shiva is benefited and all diseases are destroyed. The song related to the glory of Lord Shiva, whether it is the verses of the Vedas or created by the Gods or the singing of all types of verses created by humans, one gets bliss by getting away from them. In this way, after listening and describing Lord Shiva, one should meditate on it with a pure heart and with a rational approach. O Narada, by sitting in a Satsang, one gets the fruit of the virtues and character of Lord Shiva. Dadu, one should understand the attainment of kirtan and meditation in the end. Therefore, all works should be done for the peace of Lord Shiva. By this method, it is very easy to attain the position of Lord Shiva. And describes the glory of contemplation of Puranas. The person on whom Lord Sada Shiv is pleased, only that person gets the best benefit. Other than this there is no other way to attain Lord Sada Shiv. Now I will tell you the story of Vyas. Listen to it carefully. O Narada, Vyas ji divided the Vedas into four parts and made 18 Puranas by working hard day and night, but even then his heart was not satisfied. Therefore, to purify the mother, he sat on the bank of Brahma river and started doing penance. He meditated on Lord Shiv and conquered all the senses. When Lord Shiv saw Byaj ji doing such a difficult task, he worked hard and ordered Satak Kunwar to go near Byaj ji. At that time Shankar Kumar reached Byaj ji and gave him his darshan. Bihari worshipped Shankar Kumar and praised him in many ways. At that time my son Asam ka Kunwar was very pleased and said to Vyas ji in this way. Vyas ji, you are the father of Sukhdev ji and the master of sages and saints. When you have shown mercy on the living beings and divided the Vedas, then why are you capable of curing everyone? For the sake of this penance, you have created 18 Puranas but we ask you that despite being the guardian of a big family, why are you doing such a difficult task? It seems to us that your heart has become sad. O Narada, on hearing these words from the mouth of Shanka Kumar, Vyas ji replied, O Shanka Kumar ji, your statement is indeed true, I have divided the Vedas and created the Puranas and have also worked very hard for charity. I have become famous in the world by becoming the Guru of everyone, but even in this I have not got the benefit of salvation, that is why I am doing Maya Tapasya. Due to the effect of this penance, if you have come here considering me as a servant, then there is no surprise because you are supreme and the one who does good to others. I hope now you kindly tell me some such remedy by which my mind becomes pure and I will attain salvation. O Narada, on hearing this, Shanka Kumar replied, O Vyas ji, no one can know the Maya of Shiv ji, she fascinates the entire world. Without the devotees of Shiv, he also gives many types of troubles to all the people. If he has divided the Vedas and created the Puranas, but even in this, his devotees have not got the benefit of salvation. Then one has to know the religion and not the essence of Lord Shiva. Vyas ji, in ancient times, being knowledgeable of Maya, I kept doing Brahman in the ocean of restraint in vain. I did Brahman in all the three worlds, but could not know the way to attain salvation. Then, fascinated by the Maya of Lord Shiva, I reached the Mandara mountain and there, sitting at one place with a still mind, I did penance for a long time. I conquered my senses and remembered Lord Shiva. At that time, being pleased with Lord Shiva, I ordered Nandishwar to remove it from my sight. When Nandishwar came to me, I bowed to him and asked the reason for his arrival. At that time, Nandishwar, who is a part of Lord Shiva and the lord of all songs, said to me in this way that Lord Sankuvar is the one who always gives the fame, glory, Shravan and Madan strategy of Lord Shiva. Today, it is appropriate for you also that you should firmly adopt these three deeds of Shravan, Kirtan and Meditation. In this way, after preaching to me, Nandishwar went near Lord Shiva. At that time, I got immense joy. Vyas ji, it is appropriate for you also that you should also do these One should attain salvation by taking help of these three means. In this way, after teaching Vyas ji, Vasantkumar became Arun on the plane and returned to his world. After narrating this tale, Narad ji said, O father, if a man cannot do these three means, then please tell me what other easy way can be for him. Brahma ji said, Narad, if a man cannot do these three means, then he should worship only Shivling with devotion. In this way, by only doing worship, many people have achieved their wishes. If there is devotion in the heart, then one gets salvation even without the three means like Shravan etc.
