सूर्य की महिमा के प्रश्न में राजा राजवर्धन की कथा

कास्टिक बोले भगवान अपने आदि देव भगवान सूर्य के महत्व और स्वरूप का विस्तार पूर्वक वर्णन कीजिए आप मैं उसकी महिमा का वर्णन सुनना चाहता हूं आप प्रसन्न होकर बतलाने की कृपा करें मारकंडे जी का ने कहा ब्राह्मण मैं तुम्हें आदि देव सूर्य का महत्व बतलाता हूं सुनो पूर्व काल में दम के पुत्र राजवर्धन बड़े विख्यात राजा हो गए हैं वह अपने राज्य का धरमपूर्वक पालन करते थे इसलिए वहां के धन-जहां की दिनों दिन वृद्धि होने लगी उसे राजा के शासनकाल में समस्त राष्ट्र तथा नगरों और गांव के लोग अत्यंत स्वार्थ एवं प्रसन्न रहते थे वहां कभी कोई उत्पादन नहीं होता था रोग भी नहीं सताता था सांपों के काटने का तथा निरस्त का भाई भी नहीं था राजा ने बड़े-बड़े यज्ञ किया आजको को दान दिए और धर्म का अनुकूल रहकर विषयों का उपभोग किया इस प्रकार राज करते तथा प्रजा का भली भांति पालन करते हुए उसे राजा के साथ वर्ष 7000 वर्ष ऐसे बीत गए दक्षिण देश के राजा विदुर रात की पुत्री मानवी राजवर्धन की पत्नी थी एक दिन वह सुंदरी राजा के मस्तक में तेल लग रही थी उसे समय वह राज परिवार के देखे-देखे आंसू बहने लगे रानी ने आंसुओं की बूंदे जब राजा के सिर पर पड़ी तो उसे मुंह पर आंसू बहते देखा उन्होंने मानवी से पूछा देवी यह क्या स्वामी के इस प्रकार पूछने पर उसे मानवी से कहा कुछ नहीं जब राजा ने बार-बार पूछा तब उसे सुंदरी ने राजा की केस राशि में एक पक बल दिखा और कहा राजन यह देखिए क्या यह मुझे अभागिन के लिए खेत का विषय नहीं है या सुनकर राजा हंसने लगी उन्होंने यहां एकत्रित हुए समस्त राजाओं के सामने अपनी पत्नी से हंसकर कहा सुबह शोक की क्या बात है तुझे रोना नहीं चाहिए जन्म वृद्धि और परिणाम आदि विकार सभी जीवधारी के होते हैं मैं तो समस्त वेदों का अध्ययन किया हजारों यक्ष ब्राह्मणों का दान दिया और मेरे कई पुत्र भी हुए अन्य पुरुषों के लिए जो अत्यंत दुर्लभ है ऐसे उत्तम भोग भी मैं तुम्हार सा भोग किया पृथ्वी का भली भांति पालन किया और युद्ध में भली भारतीय अपने धर्म को निभाया भद्रे और कौन सा ऐसा शुभ कर्म है जो मैंने नहीं किया फिर इन पके बालों से तुम क्यों डरती हो सुबह मेरे बाल पक जाए शरीर भी झुर्रियां पड़ जाए तभी यदि भी शिथिल हो जाए कोई चिंता नहीं है मैं अपने कर्तव्य का पालन कर चुका हूं कल्याणी तुमने मेरे मस्तक पर जो पक्का बोल दिखाया है अब वनवास लेकर उसकी भी दावा करता हूं पहले बाल्यावस्था और कुमारवस्था में तत्काल चित कार्य किया है जाता है फिर युवावस्था में होनचित कार्य होते हैं तथा बुढ़ापे में वन का आश्रय लेना उचित है मेरे पूर्वजों तथा उनके भी पूर्वजों ने ऐसा ही किया है अतः मैं तुम्हारे आंसू बहाने का कोई कारण नहीं दिखता पके बाल का दिखाई देना तो मेरे लिए महान आबिदाई का कारण है महाराज की यह बात सुनकर वहां उपस्थित हुए अन्य राजा उर्वशी तथा आश्चर्य अमृत मनुष्य उनकी शांतिपूर्वक बोले राजन आपकी इन महारानी को रोने की आवश्यकता नहीं है रोना तो हम लोगों को अथवा समस्त प्राणियों को ही चाहिए क्योंकि आप हमें छोड़कर वह वनवास लेने की बात मुंह से निकल रहे हैं महाराज आपने हमारा लालन-पालन किया है आपके चले जाने की बात सुनकर हमारे प्राण निकल जाते हैं अपने 7000 वर्ष तक इस पृथ्वी का पालन किया है आप अब आप वन में रहकर जो तपस्या करेंगे वह इस पृथ्वी पालन जनित पुण्यतिथि की 16वीं कला के 12 बराबर भी नहीं हो सकती राजा ने कहा मैंने 7000 वर्ष तक इस पृथ्वी का पालन किया आप मेरे लिए यह वनवास का समय आ गया है मेरे कई पुत्र हो गए मेरे संतानों को देखकर थोड़ी ही दिनों में यमराज मेरा यहां रहना नहीं सा सकेगा नागरिकों को मेरे मस्तक पर जो यह सफेद बाल दिखाई देते हैं इसके अंत भयानक कम करने वाली मृत्यु का दूध समझो आता मैं राजभर अपने पुत्र का अभिषेक करके सब लोगों को त्याग दूंगा और वन में रहकर तपस्या करूंगा जब तक यमराज के सैनिक नहीं आते तभी तक यह सब कुछ मुझे कर लेना है तदांतर वन में जाने की इच्छा से महाराज ने ज्योतिषियों को बुलवाया और पुरुष के राज अभिषेक के लिए शुभ दिन एवं लगन पूछे राजा की बात सुनकर हुए शास्त्रदर्शी ज्योतिषी व्याकुल हो गए उन्हें दिन लगन और होरा आदि का ठीक ज्ञान ना हो सका तदांतर अन्य नगरों अधीनस्थ राज्यों तथा उसे नगर से भी बहुत से श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मण आए और वन में जाने के लिए उसे सुखराज जा राजवर्धन से मिले उसे समय उनके माता का आप उठा हुए बोले राजन हम पर प्रसन्न होंगे और पहले की भांति आप भी हमारा पालन कीजिए आपके वन चले जाने पर समस्त जगत संकट में पड़ जाएगा अतः आप ऐसा याद ना करें जिससे जगत को कष्ट ना हो इसके बाद मंत्रियों से हम वृत्त नागरिकों और ब्राह्मणों ने मिलकर सलाह की अब यहां क्या करना चाहिए राजा राजवर्धन अत्यंत धर्म की उसकी प्रति सब लोगों का अनुराग था इसलिए सलाह करने वाले लोग भी यह निश्चय हुआ कि हम सब लोग एक काग्रचित एवं भली भांति ध्यान पारायण होकर तपस्या द्वारा भगवान सूर्य की आराधना करके इन महाराज के लिए आयु की प्रार्थना करें इस प्रकार एक निश्चय करके कुछ लोग अपने घरों पर विधि पूर्वक आर्य उपचार आदि उपसंहारों भगवान भास्कर की पूजा करने लगे दूसरे लोग मौन रहकर ऋग्वेद युग वेद और सामवेद के जब से सूर्य देव को संतुष्ट करने लगे अन्य लोग निराहार रहकर नदी के तट पर निवास करते हुए तपस्या के द्वारा भगवान सूर्य की आराधना में लग गए कुछ लोग अग्निहोत्र करते कुछ दिन रत सूर्य युक्त का पाठ करते हुए और कुछ लोग सूर्य की ओर दृष्टि लगाकर खड़े रहते थे सूर्य की आराधना के लिए इस प्रकार यत्न करने वाले उन लोगों के समीप आकर सुदामा नमक गंधर्व ने कहा अधूरी राज्यों यदि आप लोग को सूर्य देव की आराधनारीश्ता है तो ऐसा कीजिए जिससे भगवान भास्कर प्रसन्न हो सके आप लोग यहां शीघ्र ही कामरूप पर्वत पर जाएं वहां गुरु विशाल नमक वन है जिसमें सिद्ध पुरुष निवास करते हैं वहां पर एकाग्रचित होकर आप लोग सूर्य की आराधना करें वह परम हितकारी सिद्ध क्षेत्र है वहां आप लोगों की शुभकामनाएं पूर्ण होगी सुदामा की यह बात सुनकर वह समस्त ट्वीट गुरु विशाल वन में गए वहां उन्होंने सूर्य देव का पवित्र एवं सुंदर मंदिर देखा उसे स्थान पर ब्रह्मण आदि तीनों वर्ण के लोग मिताहारि एवं एकाग्रचित हो पुष्पा चंदन धूप गांड जप होम ऑन और दीप आदि के द्वारा भगवान सूर्य की पूजा एवं स्तुति करने लगे ब्राह्मण बोले देवता दानव यक्ष ग्रह और नक्षत्र में भेजो सबके से अधिक तेजस्वी है उन भगवान सूर्य की हम स्मरण लेते हैं जो देवेश्वर भगवान सूर्य आकाश में स्थित होकर चारों ओर प्रकाश फ्लेट तथा अपनी करने से पृथ्वी और आकाश को व्याप्त किए रहते हैं उनकी हम शरण लेते हैं आदित्य भास्कर भानु सरिता दिवाकर पुष्पा आर्य इस नवु तथा तृप्ति दी थी यह जिनके नाम है जो चारों युगों का अंत करने वाले का अग्नि है जिनकी और देखना कठिन है जिनकी प्रलय के अंत में भी गाती है जो योगेश्वर अंततः रक्त पितृ सीट और आश्रित है ऋषियों के अग्निहोत्र तथा या के देवताओं में जिनकी स्थिति है जो अक्षय परम हुआ तथा मोक्ष के उत्तम द्वारा है जिसके उदास उदय स्थान मानस रूप रात में छंदों में आश्रय जोड़ते हैं तथा जो उसे रात पर बैठकर मेर गिरी की प्राधीक्षण करते हुए आकाश में विचरण करते हैं आंतरिक और ऋषि दोनों की जिनके स्वरूप है जो भिन्न-भिन्न तीर्थ के रूप में विराजमान है एकमात्र जिन पर इस विश्व की रक्षा निर्भर है जो कभी चिंतन में नहीं आ सकते उन भगवान भास्कर की हम शरण लेते हैं जो ब्रह्म महादेव विष्णु प्रजापति वायु आकाश जल पृथ्वी पर्वत समुद्रग्रह नक्षत्र और चंद्रमा आदि हैं वनस्पति वृक्ष और औषधीय जिनके स्वरूप हैं जो व्यक्त और अभिव्यक्त प्राणियों में स्थित है उन भगवान सूर्य की हम शरण लेते हैं ब्रह्मा शिव तथा विष्णु के जो रूप है वह आपके ही हैं चीन के तीन स्वरूप है हुए भगवान भास्कर हम पर प्रसन्न हो जिन आज जन्म जगदीश्वर के हरण में या संपूर्ण जगती स्थित है तथा जो जगत के जीवन है हुए भगवान सूर्य हम पर प्रसन्न हो जिनका एक परम प्रकाशमान रूप ऐसा है जिसकी और भगवान पूर्व अधिकता के कारण देखना कठिन हो जाता है तथा जिनके दूसरा रूप चंद्रमा है जो अत्यंत सौभाग्य एवं देव भगवान भास्कर हम पर प्रसन्न हो इस प्रकार भक्ति पूर्वक स्तनवा और पूजन करने वाले उन द्विज पर 3 महीने में भगवान सूर्य प्रसन्न हुए और अपने मंडल से निकलकर उसी के समान क्रांति धारण किए हुए नीचे उतरे और दुर्दशा होते हुए भी उन सबके समक्ष प्रकट हो गए तब उन लोगों ने आज हनुमान सूर्य देव के स्पष्ट रूप का दर्शन करके उन्हें भक्ति से विनीत होकर प्रणाम किया उसे समय उनके शरीर में रुख और कप हो रहा था वह बोले सहस्त्र किरण वाले सूर्य देव आपको बारंबार नमस्कार है आप सबके हेतु तथा संपूर्ण जगत के विजय हेतु विजय हेतु है आप ही सबके रक्षक सबके पूज्य सब संपूर्ण यज्ञों के आधार तथा योग वेदांतों के अध्याय हैं आप हम पर प्रसन्न हो मारकंडे जी कहते हैं तब भगवान सूर्य देव प्रसन्न होकर सब लोगों ने कहा दूध ज्ञान आपको जिन वस्तुओं की इच्छा हो वह मुझे मांगो या सुनकर ब्रह्मण आदि वाहनों के लोग उनके प्रणाम करके कहा अंधकार का नाश करने वाले भगवान सूर्य देव यदि आप हमारी भक्ति से प्रसन्न है तो हमारे राजा राजवर्धन निरोग शत्रु विजय सुंदर केशव से युक्त तथा स्त्रियों वन वाले होकर 10000 वर्षों तक जीवित रहे तथा वस्तु कहकर भगवान सूर्य अंतर्ध्यान हो गए हुए सब लोग भी मनवांछित और प्रकार प्रसन्नता पूर्वक महाराज के पास लौट आए वहां उन्होंने सूर्य से वर मांगने आदि की सब बातें यथावत का सुनाई यह सुनकर रानी मनमानी को बड़ा हर्ष हुआ परंतु राजा बहुत देर तक चिंता में पड़े रहे हुए उन लोगों से कुछ ना बोले मानवी का हृदय हर्ष से भरा हुआ था वह बोली महाराज बड़े भाई आगे से आयु की वृद्धि हुई आपका अभयदान हो राजा ने इतने बड़े अभाव दान के समय आपको प्रसन्नता क्यों नहीं होती 10000 वर्ष तक अपनी निरोगी रहेंगे आपकी जवानी स्थिर रहेगी फिर भी आपको खुशी क्यों नहीं होती राजा बोले कल्याणी मेरा अभयदान कैसे हुआ तुम मेरा अब है अभिनंदन क्यों करती हो जब हजार हजार दुख प्राप्त हो रहे हैं उसे समय किसी को बधाई देना क्या उचित माना जाता है मैं अकेला ही तो 10000 वर्ष तक जीवित रहूंगा मेरे साथ तुम तो नहीं रहोगे क्या तुम्हारे मरने पर मुझे दुख नहीं होगा पुत्र पुत्र बंधु बंधन भक्त सेवक तथा मित्र वर्ग के सब मेरी आंखों के सामने मारेंगे उसे समय मुझे व्यापार दुख का सामना करना पड़ेगा जिन लोगों ने अत्यंत दुर्बल होकर शरीर की नदी सुखा सुखा कर मेरे लिए तपस्या की हुए सब तो मारेंगे और मैं भोग भोंकते हुए जीवित रहूंगा ऐसी दशा में काम आए देखकर देने योग्य नहीं हूं सुंदरी इस प्रकार मुझ पर यह पत्तियां गई मेरा भाई ध्यान नहीं हुआ क्या तुम इस बात को नहीं समझते फिर क्यों मेरा अभिनंदन कर रही हो मानवी बोली महाराज आप जो कहते हैं वह सब ठीक है मैंने तथा पुरवासियों में आपका प्रेम वास्ता था इस दोस्त की ओर नहीं देखा न नाथ ऐसी अवस्था में क्या करना चाहिए या आप ही सोचे क्योंकि भगवान सूर्य ने प्रसन्न होकर जो कुछ कहा है वह अन्यथा नहीं हो सकता राजा ने कहा देवी पुरुषों और सेवकों ने प्रेम वैस मेरे साथ जो उपकार किया है उनका बदलाव चुकाने बिना मैं किसी प्रकार भिगूंगा यदि भगवान सूर्य की ऐसी कृपा होगी समस्त प्रजाप्रित वर्ग तुम अपने पुत्र पुत्र और मित्र भी जीवित रह सकेंगे तो मैं राज सिंहासन पर बैठकर प्रसन्नता पूर्वक भोगों का उपभोग कर सकूंगा यदि वह ऐसी कृपा नहीं करेंगे तो मैं इस कामरूप पर्वत पर निहार तब तक तपस्या करूंगा जब तक की इस जीवन का अंत न हो जाए राजा की यूं कहने पर रानी मनमानी ने कहा ऐसा ही हो फिर वह भी महाराज के साथ कामरूप पर्वत पर चली गई वहां पहुंचकर राजा ने पत्नी के साथ सूर्य मंदिर में जाकर सेवा पारायण हो भगवान भानु की आराधना आरंभ की दोनों दंपत्ति उपवास करते-करते दुर्लभ हो गए सर्दी गर्मी और वायु का कष्ट सहन करते हुए दोनों ने घोर तपस्या की सूर्य की पूजा और भारी तपस्या करते-करते जब एक वर्ष से अधिक समय व्यतीत हो गया तब भगवान भास्कर प्रसन्न हुए उन्होंने राजा को समस्त सेवा को पुरवासियों और पुत्रों आदि के लिए इच्छा अनुसार वरदान दिया और प्रकार राजा अपने नगर को लौट आए और धरमपूर्वक प्रजा का पालन करते हुए बड़ी प्रसन्नता के साथ राज करने लगे धाम यज्ञ राजा ने बहुत से यज्ञ किया और दिन रात खुले तथा दान किया हुए अपने पुत्र पुत्र और वृत्त आदि के साथ युवान को स्थिर रखते हुए 10000 वर्ष तक जीवित रहे उनका यह चरित्र देखकर प्रेम वास प्रतीत विकसित होकर यह कथा गई हो भगवान सूर्य के भजन कैसी शक्ति है जिससे राजा राजवर्धन अपनी तथा स्वराज के लिए आयु वर्धन बन गए जो मनुष्य ब्राह्मणों के मुख से भगवान सूर्य के इस उत्तम महोत्सव का श्रवण तथा पाठ करता है वह साथ रात किए हुए पापों से मुक्त होता है मुनिश्रेष्ठ इस प्रशांत से सूर्य देव के जो मंत्र आए हैं उनमें से एक-एक का भी यदि तीनों संख्याओं के समय जब किया जाए तो वह समस्त पाठकों को नाश करने वाला होता है सूर्य के जी मंदिर में इस समूचे महत्व का पाठ किया जाता है वहां भगवान सूर्य अपना सांद्रित नहीं छोड़ने तथा ब्रह्मण आदि तुम्हें महान पुण्य की प्राप्ति अभीष्ट हो सूर्य के इस उत्तम महत्व को मन ही मां धारण एवं जप करते रहो 30 श्रेष्ठ जो सोने के सिंह और अत्यंत सुंदर शरीर वाली द्वारा गाय दान करता है तथा जो अपने मन को संयम रखकर तीनों दिनों तक इस महत्व का श्रवण करता है उन दोनों को समान ही पुणे फल की प्राप्ति होती है

Markandeya said, "Brahmin, I will tell you the significance of the primordial deity, Surya. Listen. In ancient times, Rajvardhan, son of Dama, became a very famous king. He ruled his kingdom righteously, and therefore its wealth began to increase day by day. During his reign, the people of the entire nation, cities, and villages were extremely selfish and happy. There was never any production shortage, no disease, no snake bites, and no brother of the Nishit. The king performed large yagyas, gave donations to the gods, and enjoyed the luxuries of life, remaining faithful to the Dharma. Thus, 7,000 years passed with the king ruling and taking good care of his subjects. Manvi, the daughter of King Viduratri of the South, was the wife of Rajvardhan. One day, the beautiful woman was applying oil to the king's forehead. As she watched, the royal family began to tear up. When the queen saw tears falling on the king's head, she saw tears flowing down his face. She asked Manvi, "Devi," when her husband asked, "What is this?" Manvi replied, "Nothing." When the king asked again and again, the beautiful lady saw a dark spot in the king's hair and said, "O King, look at this, isn't this a matter of concern for me, an unfortunate woman?" Hearing this, the king started laughing. He laughed and said to his wife in front of all the kings gathered there. "What is there to mourn in the morning? You shouldn't cry. Birth, growth, and consequences are a problem for all living beings. I studied all the Vedas, donated thousands of Yaksh Brahmins, and I also had many sons. I enjoyed such exquisite pleasures, which are extremely rare for other men. I have enjoyed them like you. I have looked after the earth well and performed my duty well in war. Bhadre, what good deed is there that I have not done? Then why are you afraid of these gray hairs? My hair may turn gray in the morning, my body may become wrinkled, and even if I become weak, there is no worry; I have fulfilled my duty." Kalyani, the firm promise you have made on my forehead, now I claim that by taking exile as well. First, in childhood and adolescence, the desired work is done immediately, then in youth, the desired work is done and in old age, it is appropriate to take shelter in the forest. My ancestors and their ancestors have done the same, hence I do not see any reason for you to shed tears. The appearance of grey hair is a reason for a great farewell for me. Hearing this from the king, other kings present there, Urvashi and the astonished Amrit man, calmly said to them, O king, there is no need for your queen to cry. It is we or all the creatures who should cry because you are talking about leaving us and going to exile. Maharaj, you have brought us up and we die on hearing the news of your departure. You have looked after this earth for 7000 years. Now, the penance you will do by staying in the forest cannot even equal 12 times the 16th part of the death anniversary of looking after this earth. The king said, I have looked after this earth for 7000 years, this is the time of exile for me. I have many sons. Yamaraj has come. Seeing my children, in a few days I will not be able to stay here. The citizens should understand that the end of these white hairs that I see on my forehead will be the milk of death, which is a terrible end. I, Rajbhar, will anoint my son and renounce everyone and will live in the forest and will do penance until Yamaraj's soldiers come. I have to do all this until then. Desiring to go to the forest, the king called the astrologers and asked them about the auspicious day and time for the coronation of a man. The astrologers, who were knowledgeable in the scriptures, became worried after listening to the king. They could not correctly understand the day, time, time etc. Then many great Brahmins from other cities, subordinate kingdoms and even from that city came and asked him to go to the forest. Sukhraj went to meet Rajvardhan. At that time, his mother's name was raised and said, O King, we will be pleased with you and you should also take care of us as before. If you go to the forest, the entire world will be in trouble. Therefore, do not remember anything that will not cause suffering to the world. After this, we, the ministers, the citizens and the Brahmins together consulted as to what should be done here now. Rajvardhan was extremely religious and was loved by all. Therefore, the people who were advising him decided that all of us should pray for the long life of this Maharaj by worshipping Lord Sun through austerities with a concentrated and well-developed meditation. Thus, having made a resolution, some people started worshipping Lord Bhaskar in their homes as per the prescribed rituals like Arya Upchar etc. Others started propitiating the Sun God by remaining silent since the Rigveda era, Vedas and Samaveda. Others remained fasting and stayed on the banks of the river and started worshipping Lord Surya through austerities. Some people performed Agnihotra, recited Surya Yukta for some days and nights and some people stood with their eyes fixed on the Sun. Coming near those people who were making such efforts to worship the Sun, Sudama, a Gandharva said, "Adhuri kingdoms, if you people worship the Sun God, then do something that can please Lord Bhaskar. You all should go to Kamrup mountain soon. There is a huge forest in which Siddha Purushas reside. You should worship the Sun there with concentration. He is the supreme beneficialThere is a Siddha Kshetra, your wishes will be fulfilled there. Hearing this from Sudama, all those tweet gurus went to Vishal forest and saw the holy and beautiful temple of Surya Dev. Markande ji said, then Lord Surya Dev became pleased and everyone said, ask me for milk, knowledge, whatever you desire. Hearing this, the people of Brahmins etc. bowed to him and said, Lord Surya Dev, destroyer of darkness, if you are pleased with our devotion, then our king Rajvardhan, healthy, blessed with enemy victory, handsome Keshav, women of the forest, will live for 10000 years. After saying the thing, Lord Surya disappeared. Everyone returned to the king happily and there they narrated all the things of asking boons from Surya etc. as usual. Hearing this, Queen Manmani became very happy but the king remained silent for a long time. Manvi did not say anything to those people who were worried. Manvi's heart was filled with joy. She said, Maharaj, elder brother, your age has increased from now on, may you be blessed with a safe haven, the king, why are you not happy at the time of such a huge loss? You will remain healthy for 10,000 years, your youth will remain stable, still why are you not happy. The king said, Kalyani, how did I get a safe haven, why do you congratulate me now, when I am facing thousands of sorrows, is it considered right to congratulate someone at that time? I will live for 10,000 years alone, you will not be with me, will I not feel sad when you die? Sons, brothers, relatives, devotees, servants and friends will all be killed in front of my eyes, at that time I will have to face the pain of business. Those who became extremely weak and performed penance for me by drying up the river of their body, will all be killed, and I will survive by consuming pleasures. In such a condition, I am not worthy of being helped by seeing it, beautiful lady, these leaves fell on me like this, did you not notice my brother, do you not understand this, then why are you congratulating me? Manvi said, Maharaj Whatever you say is correct. There was a love affair between me and the people of the city. I did not look at this friend. Nath, what should be done in such a situation or you think about it yourself because whatever Lord Surya has said in his delight cannot be otherwise. The king said, I will somehow get drenched without repaying the kindness that the goddesses, men and servants have done to me with love. If Lord Surya shows such kindness that all the people, you, your sons and friends will be able to survive, then I will be able to enjoy the pleasures happily sitting on the royal throne. If he does not show such kindness, then I will gaze at this Kamrup mountain and do penance till this life comes to an end. On hearing this from the king, Queen Manmani said so be it. Then she also went to Kamrup mountain with the king. After reaching there, the king along with his wife went to the Sun temple and started worshipping Lord Bhanu. Both the couple became very weak by fasting. Enduring the hardships of cold, heat and wind, both of them performed severe penance.After more than a year of worshipping the Sun and performing severe penance, Lord Bhaskar was pleased. He granted the king all the boons he desired for the welfare of the citizens and sons. Thus, the king returned to his city and began to rule with great happiness, following his subjects righteously. The king performed numerous yagyas and gave donations day and night, maintaining his youthful health along with his sons and relatives. Seeing his character, love for him developed and this story is told: What power does the hymn of Lord Sun have, which increased the longevity of King Rajvardhan and his kingdom. The person who listens to and recites this excellent festival of Lord Sun from the mouth of Brahmins is freed from the sins committed the night before. This entire significance of this is recited in the Sun temple. There, Lord Sun does not lose his concentration and Brahmins etc. You should desire to attain great virtue.
