दक्ष प्रजापति की तपस्या से प्रसन्न भगवती शिव का साथी नाम से उसकी पुत्री के रूप में जन्म लेना भगवती सती एवं भगवान शिव की परस्पर प्रतीत
श्री महादेव जी बोले एक बार की बात है जगत की सृष्टि करने वाला ब्रह्मानंद दक्ष प्रजापति को हर्षित करते हुए उनसे कहा पुत्र मैं तुम्हारे कल्याण की एक बात का बता रहा हूं तुम उसे सुनो साक्षात भगवान शिव ने ब्रह्म परं ब्रह्म पूर्ण प्रकृति की आराधना कि उन्हें बाहर बनाने के लिए विचार से उसे प्रार्थना की इस पर उसकी प्राकृतिक ने यह बात स्वीकार कर ली अतः कोई माहेश्वरी कहीं ना कहीं जन्म लेकर ओम शिव को पति के रूप में अवश्य प्राप्त करेंगे इससे मुझे कोई संदेह नहीं कोई प्राकृतिक इस प्रकार आपकी पुत्री के रूप में उत्पन्न होकर संभोग की भय होकर इसके लिए आप अति कठोर तपस्या के द्वारा भक्ति पूर्वक उसकी प्रार्थना कीजिए कोई इस लोक में भाई से जिसकी पुत्री के रूप में उत्पन्न होगी उसका जीवन सफल हो जाएगा और उसके पितृगन ही धन्य हो जाएंगे अतः इस जगत में उत्पन्न माया रुपाणी लोग क्या थी उसे जगदंबा को पुत्री रूप में प्राप्त कर आप अपना जन्म सार्थक कीजिए दक्ष बोल पिताजी मैं आपकी आज्ञा से निश्चित रूप से वैसा ही प्रश्न करूंगा जिससे वह साक्षात प्राकृतिक रूप जगदंबा मेरी पुत्री के रूप में जन्म ली श्री महादेव जी बोले ब्रह्मा जी से ऐसा कह कर दक्ष प्रजापति अतिथि शीघ्रता से श्री सागर के तट पर आकर जगदंबा की आराधना करने लगी मुनीश्वर उन्हें उपवास इत्यादि दक्षिण भगवती की आराधना करते हुए 3000 दिव्य वर्ष बताएं उसे प्रकार की तपस्या रन की समझ भगवती शिव प्रकट हुई उसका विग्रह निखर हुए काजल के समान था तब विचार सुंदर विशाल भुज से युक्त थी वह अपने हाथों में खड़ा कमल तथा अभय मुद्रा धारण किए हुए थे उनके नेत्र नेत्र कमल के दल की भक्ति सुशोभित थी उसके दांत अत्यंत मनोहर थे हुए सुंदर को मंडल मुंडमाला से विभूषित थे वैदिक साहित्य वस्त्र धारण किए हुए थे उसके बाल खुले हुए थे हुए अनेक विधि मारी से शोभा पा रही थी सिहकी पीठ पर सवार थी और मध्यान्ह कालीन से को सूर्य की प्रभाव के समान प्रकाशमान थी उन्होंने दक्ष से कहा बादशाह ले तुम मुझसे क्या याचना कर रहे हो प्रजापति तुम्हें भाव से प्रसन्न होकर मैं उनसे तुम्हें शीघ्र दूंगी दक्ष बोल माता यदि आप मुझ निष्पाप दास पर प्रसन्न है तो आप मेरी पुत्री के रूप में मेरे घर में जन्म लीजिए श्री देवी जी बोले मुझे पत्नी के रूप में प्राप्त करने की कामना शंभू ने पूर्व काल में मुझे प्रार्थना की थी वह प्रार्थना मैंने पूर्व में स्वीकार कर ली थी आप मुझे कहीं जन्म लेना है आप मैं आपके घर में जन्म लेकर संभोग की भावना अनुपम साक्षात प्राकृतिक स्वरूप ने भगवती पुणे आपकी इस तपस्या से प्रसन्न तुल्य गौर अखाड़े से युक्त बिगड़ वाली मैं आपकी कन्या होगी सुंदर सर वाली तथा सौभाग्य रूप वाली मैं तभी तक आपके यहां रहूंगी जब तक आपकी तपस्या का पूर्ण चिढ़ नहीं हो जाता पूर्ण तपस्या का पूर्ण चिन्ह होने पर जब आपके द्वारा मेरा अनादर होगा तब मैंने इसी तरह भी गिरा धारण कर अपनी माया से इस्ठुर्वार जड़माने संपूर्ण जगत को विमोहित करके अपने धाम चली जाऊंगी

She had huge arms. She was standing with lotus in her hands and was holding abhaya mudra. Her eyes were adorned with lotus petals. Her teeth were very beautiful. She was adorned with mandala and garland of skulls. She was wearing Vedic literature clothes. Her hair was open and was adorned with many types of ornaments. She was riding on the back of a lion and was shining like the effect of the midday sun. She said to Daksha, "King, take what are you requesting from me? Prajapati, pleased with your feelings, I will give it to you soon." Daksha said, "Mother, if you are pleased with me, your sinless servant, then take birth in my house as my daughter."
