श्री पराशर जी बोले हैं मैथिली बालक ध्रुव के युद्ध में प्रभु श्री हरि विष्णु जी विराजमान थे इस कारण उसने आंखों में आंसू भर कर विलाप करते हुए कुछ माया विंग की ओर आंख खोल कर भी नहीं देखा फिर वहां बोली अरे पुत्र इसी स्थान से उठाकर अति शीघ्र भाग ले देखती भयंकर विशाल वनरक्षक अस्त्र-शस्त्र लिए इसी और आ रहे हैं यह कह कर वहां माया वाणी वहां से चली गई वहां तुरंत ही अनेक राक्षस अस्त्र-शस्त्र लिए हुए उसके मुख से अग्नि की लपेटा निकाल रही थी प्रगट हो गए तुम सब राक्षसों ने अपने शत्रुओं को जलाकर उस बालक को के सामने बहुत भयंकर कोलाहल शोर-शराबा मचाया उस नादान बालक को विश करने के लिए अनेक विषयों घूर्णन करने लगे हुए सारे राक्षस मारो मारो काटो काटो खाओ खाओ इस प्रकार चिल्लाने लगे फिर जैसे मुंह वाले पुराने राक्षस उस राजकुमार को गठित करने के लिए तरह-तरह के मुझसे भयंकर आवाजें निकाल रहे थे किंतु प्रभु की भक्ति में मां बिना राजकुमार तू अब वह राक्षस उनकी आवाजें कराएं और अस्त्र 17 दिन कुछ भी नहीं दिखाई दिया वह राजकुमार तो सच्चे मन से आकर्षित होकर प्रभु श्री हरि विष्णु जी को ही देखता रहा और अंत में किसी की ओर देखा था नहीं जब सारे प्रयास करने के बाद समस्त मायाये आ गई तो देवताओं को बढ़ावा हुए सब कुछ के कठिन तपस्या से घबराकर जगतपति प्रभु श्री विष्णु जी के पास गए देवता प्रभु श्री हरि विष्णु जी बोले हे देवाधिदेव जगतपिता हम सब ध्रुव की तपस्या से संतृप्त होकर अपनी शरण में आए हैं जिस प्रकार चंद्रमा अपनी कलाओं द्वारा दिन प्रतिदिन बढ़ता है उसी प्रकार यह भी तपस्या के कारण दिन-रात उनती कर रहा है हे जनार्दन इस ध्रुव की तपस्या से भयभीत होकर हम सब आप की शरण में आए हैं हे देवाधिदेव हम नहीं जानते कि वह इंद्र पद चाहता है या सूर्य पद अथवा उसे कुबेर वरुण या चंद्रमा के पद की अभिलाषा है हे प्रभु कृपा करके आप हम पर प्रसन्न हुए और ध्रुव को तब से निर्मित करके हमारे हिर्दय का कांटा निकाले देवताओं की बात सुनकर प्रभु श्री विष्णु जी बोले थे देवताओं इन बालक को इंद्र वरुण कुबेर अथवा सूर्य आदि किसी के पद की अभिलाषा नहीं है कुछ पालक दूध की जो इच्छा कामना है वह मैं पूरी करूंगा यह देवगढ़ आप सब निश्चित होकर अपने-अपने लोगों को जाओ मैं तपस्या में लगे हुए बालक को निर्मित करता है श्री प्राचीन श्री हरि विष्णु जी के ऐस कहने पर इंद्र समस्त देवगन उन्हें प्रणाम कर अपने-अपने स्थानों को चले गए प्रभु श्री हरि विष्णु जी ने बालक को की कठिन तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर उसके निकट चतुर्भुज रूप में प्रकट होकर इस प्रकार कहा प्रभु श्री हरि विष्णु जी बोले पुत्र रूप तेरा कल्याण हो तेरी तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर मैं तुम्हें वर देने के लिए प्रकट हुआ हूं तूने समस्त विषयों से दूर होकर अपने मन को पूरी तरह मुझ में ही लगा दिया है पुत्र मैं तुम से अधिक संतुष्ट हूं अब तू अपनी इच्छा अनुसार मुझसे श्रेष्ठ व मांग ले
