ही नारा दोष समय मुझे चिंता युक्त देखकर आकाशवाणी हुई जिसके द्वारा दो अक्षर प्रगट हुए उन अक्षरों के सारे 16 तथा 21 अक्षरों का और ज्ञान हुआ जिससे मैं बहुत सी बातों को जान सका ठीक उसी समय भगवान सदाशिव की इच्छा से उसे जल के अचित होकर पड़े हुए विष्णु सचेत होकर मेरे स्वामी पाए वह रात में जाति क्रिकेट आदि को धारण किए हुए थे उनके शरीर का रंग बेस के समान श्यामल था उसके उसे मनोहरी प्रकाशवाण स्वरूप को देखकर मैं आश्चर्यचकित रह गया इतना कथा सुनकर ब्रह्मा जी ने कहा हे नारद मुझे किसी प्रकार का संदेह नहीं करना चाहिए क्योंकि भगवान सदा शिव जो चाहते हैं वही होता है एस्टन मैं तुम्हें विष्णु के उसे स्वरूप को देखकर पूछा आप कौन हैं विष्णु ने उत्तर दिया है ब्राह्मण हम ब्रह्मा अलक निरंजन हरि भूपति निवास कर चिंतित तथा सत्यजीत आनंद स्वरूप हैं हम तुम्हारे पिता हैं और हमारे भी नाभि कमल द्वारा तुम्हारी उत्पत्ति हुई है अब तुम निर्भय हो जाओ क्योंकि हम तुम्हारे रक्षक हैं हमारे ऊपर हमारे सम्मान अथवा हमसे उत्तम अन्य कोई नहीं है हमें सबके स्वामी है यह नारद विष्णु जी ने यह बात आज्ञा वर्ष में ही कही थी हमें उत्तम है और हमें ब्रह्म है क्योंकि वह उसे समय शिव जी की माया से अचेतन थे भला ही संसार में ऐसा कौन है जिसे भगवान सदा शिव की माया बुलावे में नहीं डाल देती हे नारद विष्णु के मुख से यह वचन सुनकर मुझे अत्यंत क्रुद्ध आया तब मैंने उसे कहा है विष्णु तुम ऐसी सत्य बात मत कहो और केवलाव भाव निश्चय रखो यदि तुम हमें उत्पन्न करने वाले होते तो वेद हमें ब्रह्मा पितामह पिता मां परमेश्वरी आदि नामों से नहीं पुकारते हम स्वयं ही तीनों गुना को धारण करके संपूर्ण सृष्टि को उत्पन्न करने वाले हैं अतः तुम्हें हमारे प्रतीत ऐसा शब्द नहीं करने चाहिए मेरे बात सुनकर विष्णु बोल ही ब्रह्मा तुम्हें ऐसे अज्ञान में पढ़ने उचित नहीं है इस सृष्टि को उत्पन्न करने वाले तुम नहीं हो बल्कि हमें हैं हमें सब जीवों को उत्पन्न करके उनका पालन करते हैं और प्रलय काल में सबको नष्ट कर देते हैं हमारे हरी इस अधम आदि सर्वोत्तम नाम है हमारी माया वशीभूत होकर सब लोग अपना ज्ञान भूल बैठे हैं इसलिए तुम भी ऐसा खा रहे हो इसमें तुम्हारा कोई दोस्त नहीं है यह संपूर्ण संसार हमारे द्वारा ही उत्पन्न हुआ है और हमारे ही अधीन बना रहता है हमें निवेदनों को अपनाया है और हम तुम्हें ना भी कमल द्वारा उत्पन्न किया है हमें अधिक श्रेष्ठ अन्य कोई नहीं है तुम अपने नाम पर अहंकार मत करो तथा क्रोध को त्याग कर जो वचन करने योग्य तथा उचित है उसी का प्रयोग करो जी समय अंधा मनुष्य आंखों की महिमा अंत की अवस्था का वर्णन करें इस प्रकार वेद ने भी तुम्हारे नाम का वर्णन किया है यदि तुम हमारा पूजन करोगे तो वह शुभ होगा अन्यथा हम तुम्हें अपनी शक्ति द्वारा नष्ट कर देंगे है नारद विष्णु के ऐसे अहंकार पूर्ण शब्द सुनकर पहले तुम मुझे बहुत हंसी आई फिर हृदय में इतना क्रोध उत्पन्न हुआ कि मैं उनका शत्रु बन गया और उनसे इस प्रकार कहने लगा है विष्णु जिस प्रकार गुरु अपने शिष्य को झूठ को और कर बुलाता है उसी प्रकार तुम हमें उपदेश क्यों दे रहे हो यह हे नरत परस्पर इस प्रकार कहते हुए तथा विष्णु आप आपसे युद्ध करने लगे शिव की महिमा से मोहित होकर हम दोनों ने बहुत समय तक खूब युद्ध किया क्योंकि हम दोनों ही अपने को संपूर्ण सृष्टि का स्वामी समझते थे
