शिव महापुराण कथा पहला स्कंद अध्याय एक

एक समय महर्षि श्री वेदव्यास जी के प्रधान शिष्य श्री सुख जीवन जिन्होंने अपने गुरु की सेवा द्वारा बड़प्पन प्राप्त किया था नेम इस याराना नामक वन में भगवान सदाशिव की तपस्या कर रहे थे वह सदैव शंकर जी के ध्यान में मग्न रहकर उन्हें के गुना का कीर्तन किया करते थे उन्होंने दिन सहयोग से शौक़कन ऋषि अपने साथ बहुत से ऋषियों को लेकर श्री सूद जी के पास आए तथा उनमें से इस प्रकार बोल ही शुद्ध जी हम लोग संसार रूपी आधार सागर में डूबे हुए हैं हमारा परम सौभाग्य है कि आज हमें आपके दर्शन प्राप्त हुए उसे समय पश्चात वह युग अनिल वाला है जिसमें पुराने धर्म नष्ट हो जाएंगे तथा पापचारी में वृद्धि होगी सब लोग ही उसे धर्म को त्याग कर कुमार पर चलेंगे चारों वर्ण इस प्रकार अपने कर्मों से पतित हो जाएंगे कि ब्राह्मणवाद खेती करने लगेंगे ब्राह्मण छल छिद्र में अत्यंत चतुर होंगे और अपने धर्म को भूल बैठेंगे छतरी भी अपने जाति धर्म को त्याग कर युद्ध क्षेत्र से विमुख हो पलायन वादी बन जाएंगे तथा चोरी करने में अत्यंत चतुरी का प्रदर्शन करेंगे वह शूद्रों के सामान कम कर उठेंगे और इस अवस्था में रहकर प्रसन्नता का अनुभव करेंगे गांव की रक्षा करना हुए छोड़ देंगे इस प्रकार छतरी जाती अत्यंत अन्याय एवं दुख दाहिनी हो जाएंगे इसी प्रकार वैश्या भी अपने श्रेष्ठ धर्म को त्याग कर पाप कर्मों द्वारा धान का संचय करेंगे एवं उत्तम मार्ग को ठुकरा देंगे इसी प्रकार शुद्ध भी अपने धर्म को त्याग कर ब्राह्मणों का कर्म करने की चेष्टा करेंगे सूत्र द्वारा इस प्रकार विपरीत कर्म किए जाने पर ब्राह्मणों का तेज नष्ट हो जाएगा ऐसी दशा में संपूर्ण प्राणियों आयु भी काम रह जाएगी संसार में जब इस प्रकार धर्म बढ़ जाएगा और जाति बंधन नष्ट प्राय हो जाएगा इस समय भिक्षायु द्वारा भिक्षा मांगे जाने पर भी उन्हें कोई कुछ दान नहीं देगा स्वर्ण शंकर मनुष्य अपने को उच्च कॉलोनी समझ कर और लोगों को है दृष्टि रखेगा स्त्रियां भी दुष्ट प्रकृति वाली बनाकर अपनी पति की सेवा में विमुख हो जाएंगे ऐसी अवस्था में संतान भी अपने माता-पिता से प्रतीत रखना त्याग देंगे मनुष्यों में संयम जब तक तथा सेल नष्ट हो जाएगा ऐसी अवस्था में प्रतिदिन सत्य और सोच का अभाव होता जाएगा हे सूट की ऐसे घर काली काल में लोक तपसियों के केवल इसलिए सम्मान देंगे कि वह उनके पुत्र आदि उत्पन्न होने की कामना को पूर्ण करने में सहायता प्रदान करेंगे इस युग में केवल बालों को संभाल लेना ही सुंदरता का लक्षण होगा और अपने पेट को भर लेना ही सबसे श्रेष्ठ कार्य समझ जाएग भला आप ही बताएं कि ऐसे घर समय में कलयुग वास जीव किस प्रकार मुक्ति प्राप्त कर सकेंगे वह अपने पापों तथा शास्त्रों दुरुस्त कर्मों को भरम कर शतपथ को अपने में किस प्रकार समर्थ हो सकेंगे आप सब प्रकार की चिताओं को दूर करके प्रसन्नता प्रदान करने वाले हैं हम लोग इसी चिंता में डूब गए हुए थे कि तब तक हमें आपके दर्शनों का सौभाग्य प्राप्त हो गया आप कृपा करके कोई ऐसा उपाय बताएं जिससे हमारी यह चिंता नष्ट हो जाएगा और हम प्रसन्नता को प्राप्त करेंगे सांसारिक जीवन का हित चाहने वाले अपने सामान और कोई नहीं है अपने भगवान वेदव्यास जी की अत्यंत सेवा की है और उनके पापियों को पाप रूपी समुद्र से पर उतारा है भगवान कृष्ण वैद्यपन में अत्यंत कृपा करके अपने संपूर्ण पुराण पढ़े हैं अतः आप हम पर भी अवश्य कृपा करें सौगंध ऋषि के मुख से निकले हुए इन शब्दों को सुनकर सूत्र जी अत्यंत अपने नेत्रों से प्रेम आंसुओं की वर्षा करते हुए इस प्रकार बोल ही शौकत जी तथा अन्य ऋषि महा अनुभव आप लोग परम ज्ञानी एवं संपूर्ण संसार का हित चाहने वाले हैं यद्यपि संसारी लोगों की वह बुद्धि नष्ट हो गई है जिसमें सबके मंगल का ध्यान रहता है परंतु आप सब लोग उसके अपवाद स्वरूप है क्योंकि अपने अन्य लोगों को उपकार के लिए ही मुझे यह प्रश्न किया है अतः आप मैं आपकी इस प्रतीत के वसीभूत होकर भगवान सदाशिव कि उसे परम स्तुति का वर्णन करूंगा जिसे सुनकर काली कल के दुख नष्ट हो जाते हैं तथा अज्ञानी जीवन को भी मुक्ति प्राप्त होती है यही कारण है कि जो लोग बुद्धिमान होते हैं वह भगवान सदाशिव की तपस्या द्वारा संपूर्ण पदार्थों को न्यास ही प्राप्त कर लेते हैं शिवलोक में किसी भी प्रकार शोक और दुख कभी भी नहीं व्याप्त है जो लोग शिव जी का नमन करते हैं हुए बहुत संतान प्राप्त करते हैं अतः है ऋषियों उचित यही है इस संसार को दुख स्वरूप समझकर शिव के चरणों में ही अर्पित लगाई जाए इस ओपन शिवजी की स्तुति करने में वेद भी असमर्थ है अतः शिवजी का क्षण भर के लिए भी ध्यान करना नहीं भूलना चाहिए सूजी के मुख से यह वचन सुनकर शौक़कन ऋषि अपने दोनों हाथ जोड़कर उसके सम्मुख बैठ गए तदुपरांत सब ऋषियों ने परस्पर विचार विनय करके सूट की से यह कहा है सूट की शिव जी तो निर्गुण कहलाते हैं उन्होंने सद्गुण रूप किस प्रकार धारण किया है उन्होंने संसार को इस प्रकार उत्पन्न किया तथा स्वयं किस प्रकार उत्पन्न हुए हैं हुए प्रलय काल में भी संसार को नष्ट करके स्वयं किस प्रकार स्थित रहते हैं हुए किसी कार्य को प्रसन्न होते ही और प्रसन्न होकर क्या वरदान देते हैं है सूट की या सब वृतांत तथा इसके अतिरिक्त भी भगवान सदाशिव के संबंध में और जो कुछ भी जाने योग्य हो आप उसे हमें बताएं क्योंकि आप श्री वेदव्यास जी की कृपा से भूत भविष्य एवं वर्तमान इन तीनों कालों की गति को जानने में समर्थ है तभी तो व्यास जी ने कृपा करके अपने श्री मुख से आपको इस ब्रह्मांड का संपूर्ण रहस्य समझा दिया है यह बात निश्चय है कि जब तक श्रेष्ठ ब्रह्म ज्ञानी से भेंट नहीं होती तब तक शोक तथा मुंह नष्ट नहीं होता है हम तो उसी को बड़े भाग्यवान मानते हैं जो शिवजी की कथा कीर्तन से अपना संबंध सदैव बनाए रहता है

Once upon a time, the chief disciple of Maharishi Shri Vedvyas ji, Shri Sukh Jeevan, who had attained greatness by the service of his Guru, was doing penance of Lord Sadashiv in this forest named Yarana. He always remained engrossed in the meditation of Shankar ji and chanted Ke Guna to him. During the day, Shaukakan Rishi came to Shri Sood Ji with many Rishis along with him and spoke to them like this, Shuddha Ji, we are immersed in the ocean of base in the form of the world. It is our utmost good fortune that today we got your darshan. After some time, that era will be of Anil in which old religions will be destroyed and sinful people will increase, everyone will abandon their religion and follow the path of Kumar, all the four varnas will degenerate by their deeds in such a way that Brahmins will start cultivating Brahminism and will fall into the hole of deceit. They will be extremely clever and will forget their religion. Chhatri will also give up their caste and religion, will turn away from the battlefield and will become a deserter and will show extreme cleverness in stealing. They will wake up with less goods belonging to the Shudras and will experience happiness while living in this state. They will give up protecting the village, thus the Chhatri caste will be reduced to extreme injustice and misery. Similarly, prostitutes will also give up their noble religion and accumulate paddy through sinful activities and will reject the good path. Similarly, the pure will also give up their religion. By doing this, they will try to do the deeds of Brahmins. By doing opposite deeds in this way, the glory of Brahmins will be destroyed. In such a situation, the age of all living beings will also be of no use in the world. When religion will increase in this way and caste barriers will almost be destroyed at this time. Even if a beggar begs for alms, no one will give him alms. Swarna Shankar man will consider himself as a superior colony and will look down upon other people, making women evil in nature and will turn away from serving their husbands. In such a situation, the children will also be dependent on their parents. Until humans will give up the desire to obey their father and their cells will be destroyed, in such a state, there will be lack of truth and thinking every day. In such a house of suit, people will respect the penances of people only because they will give birth to sons etc. Will help in fulfilling the wishes. In this era, only taking care of hair will be a sign of beauty and filling one's stomach will be considered the best work. Please tell me how the living beings living in Kalyug can attain salvation in such a time. How will they be able to overcome their sins and their deeds as per the scriptures, and how will they be able to attain Shatpath in themselves? You are the one who will remove all kinds of worries and give happiness. We were immersed in this worry that till then we had the good fortune of seeing you. It has been achieved, please tell me some solution by which our worries will be destroyed and we will attain happiness. Those who want the benefits of worldly life are none other than their own, have served their Lord Ved Vyas Ji extremely well and have given their sinners the punishment for their sins. Lord Krishna has brought us down from the sea with utmost kindness in Vaidyapan and has read his entire Puranas, hence you must bless us also. Hearing these words coming from the mouth of Saugandh Rishi, Sutra ji showered tears of love from his eyes like this. Speak only Shaukat ji and other sages with great experience, you all are highly knowledgeable and want the welfare of the entire world, although the wisdom of the worldly people has been destroyed in which everyone's well-being is taken care of, but you all are an exception to that because you are like others. You have asked me this question only to do a favor to you, hence, under the influence of your kindness, I will describe the supreme praise of Lord Sadashiv, hearing which, the sorrows of the dark days are destroyed and the ignorant life also gets freedom, this is the reason. That those who are intelligent attain all the things through the penance of Lord Sadashiv, there is never any sorrow and sorrow in Shivlok, those who pay obeisance to Lord Shiva get many children, hence it is It is right for the sages to consider this world as a form of sorrow and offer it at the feet of Lord Shiva. Even the Vedas are unable to praise Lord Shiva in this open manner, hence one should not forget to meditate on Lord Shiva even for a moment. Hearing this word from the mouth of Suji, one is fond of listening to this word. The sage folded his hands and sat in front of him. After that, all the sages, after discussing it with each other, said this to Suit that Shiva is called Nirgun, how has he assumed the form of virtue, how did he create the world in this way and how is he himself? How have they arisen and destroy the world even in the time of destruction, how do they remain situated while doing any work and what boon do they give when they are happy, all the accounts of the suit and apart from this, whatever else is there in relation to Lord Sadashiv. You should also be able to know it, please tell us because by the grace of Shri Ved Vyas Ji, you are able to know the speed of these three periods, past, future and present, that is why Vyas Ji has kindly explained to you the entire mystery of this universe from his Shri Mouth. It is certain that unless one meets the best Brahma Gnani, grief and sadness do not disappear. We consider only that person very fortunate who always maintains his connection with the Katha-Kirtan of Lord Shiva.
