श्री शिव महापुराण कथा द्वितीय खंड अध्याय 28

ब्रह्मा जी बोले हैं नारद इंद्र की सेवा शिव गानों से युद्ध करने लगी उसे युद्ध में हंसी शु तोमर वन पतित आदि अस्त्र-शस्त्रों का प्रयोग होने लगा बेरी शंकर वृद्धि भूमि पत्थर निशान तथा दीप दीप आदि प्रसिद्ध रणवादों की ध्वनि चारों ओर गूंजने लगी सभी योद्धा उसे युद्ध में अपनी वीरता का अधिक अधिक प्रदर्शन करने वालों की समय शिव गणों ने अपनी परम वीरता को प्रकट किया उसे समय इंद्र की सेवा को पराजित होते हुए देखा मृग ऋषि ने उच्च पाटन मंत्र का जाप करके वीरभद्र की सेवा को उसे वक्त बना दिया तब इंद्र की सेवा ने उन्हें अत्यंत दुखी करके शास्त्रों मित्रों को जान से मार डाला उसे अजीत विपत्ति को देखकर शिव के गांड भयभीत होकर भागने लगे और इंद्र की सेवा बिजनी हुई हे नारद शिव गानों की हार का मुख्य कारण नहीं था कि इस प्रकार शिव जी ने ब्रह्म ब्रह्म की श्रेष्ठता को चंपा सम्मान दिया था आज तू जब वीरभद्र ने यह देखा कि उनकी सेवा हर कर भाग रही थी तब वह भूत प्रेत आदि को पीछे कर स्वयं आगे बढ़ आए जो बड़े-बड़े सेनापति युद्ध बल पर सवार थे वह भी उनके साथ आगे आकर खड़े हुए ताड़ूपरान उन्होंने अपने हाथों में त्रिशूल लेकर इंद्र के साथ महा भयानक युद्ध किया उसे प्रहारों से घायल होकर देवता आदि भयभीत हो उसे क्षेत्र से भागने लगे किसी के विचित्र अंग कट गए तो कोई टुकड़े-टुकड़े होकर सर गिर पड़ा इस प्रकार देवताओं की संपूर्ण सेवा छीनीबी हो गई कुछ देवता तो भाग कर अपने घरों को भी चले गए उसे समय अकेले इंद्र की दृढ़ता पूर्वक खड़े हुए युद्ध क्षेत्र में दिखाई पड़ रही थी अपनी सेवा को इस प्रकार भागते देख इंद्र ने अपने गुरु बृहस्पति से कहा है गुरु आप देवताओं की सेवा के रक्षक है अतः आप हमें ऐसा कोई उपाय बताएं जिससे तुम्हारी जीत हो या सुनकर बृहस्पति में उत्तर दिया है इंद्र विष्णु जी ने जो कुछ कहा था वही सब इस समय सामने आ रहा है मंत्र तंत्र औषधि वेद धर्मशास्त्र पुराण विचार तथा प्रतीत आदि यह सब शिवजी की महिमा को जानने में असमर्थ है तुम मूर्ख हो जो बच्चों के समान बुद्धिहीन बनाकर उन्हें भगवान सदा शिव से पर थन रहे हो यह सभी गण शिवजी की आज्ञा अनुसार आए हुए हैं और इस यज्ञ को नष्ट करके ही मानेंगे उनके सामने किसी का कोई वास नहीं चलेगा यह नारद बृहस्पति जी के मुख से यह वचन सुनकर इंद्र के सहित सभी देवताओं को बड़ी चिंतन हुआ इस समय वीरभद्र ने उन सब को संबोधित करके कहा है देवता हूं तुम्हारे सभी बातें बच्चों के समान बुद्धि हीनता की सूचक एवं व्यर्थ की सी है तुम लोग शाहरुख वस्त्र को नहीं पहचान पाए अस्तु इस यज्ञ में जो-जो देवता भाग लेने के लिए आए हैं हुए सब मेरे स्वामी प्रकार यज्ञ का भाग ले जाए यह कहकर वीरभद्र ने एक बार फिर इंद्र अग्नि कुबेर वरुण सूर्य चंद्र आदि देवताओं को संबोधित करते हुए कहा है देवताओं तुम सब मेरे स्वामी प्रकार अपना-अपना भाग ले जाओ मैं तुम्हें सुख पहुंच कर ऐसा प्रसन्न करूंगा कि तुम्हें सदैव के लिए भगवान सदा शिव की महिमा का ज्ञान प्राप्त हो जाए इतना कह कर वीरभद्र अत्यंत क्रुद्ध होकर वहां वर्षा करने लगे उसके परीक्षण बाढ़ के प्रहार में इंद्र के शरीर को घायल कर दिया जब उन्होंने यह अनुभव किया कि वीरभद्र पर हुए किसी प्रकार विजय प्राप्त नहीं कर सकते तो सब देवताओं के साथ भाग खड़े हुए यह नारद या दृश्य देखकर सब ऋषि मुनि अत्यंत भयभीत हो विष्णु जी की शरण में गए और उन्हें प्रणाम करके इस प्रकार कहने लगे हैं प्रभु हम आपकी शरण में आए हैं आज तो आप दयाल होकर हमारी रक्षा करें उन ऋषि मुनियों की प्रार्थना को सुनकर श्री विष्णु जी भी अपने अस्त्र-शस्त्र लेकर युद्ध करने की इच्छा से वीरभद्र के सम्मुख जहां खड़े हुए जब वीरभद्र ने अपने सामने खड़े हुए विष्णु जी को देखा तो उन्हें पुकारते हुए इस प्रकार कहा है विष्णु तुम यहां किस लिए आए हो तुम दक्ष के रक्षक बनाकर अपनी तेज तथा प्रकाश को नष्ट कर देने पर क्यों तू ले हो तुमने सबसे बड़ी गलती तो यह कि केंद्र को साथ लेकर 20 यज्ञ में अपना भाग ग्रहण करने के लिए चले आए अब यदि तुम युद्ध करने के लिए आए हो तो यह भी स्मरण रखो कि शिवजी की आज्ञा है उसी प्रकार मैं तुम्हें भी अच्छी तरह से तीर्थ कर दूंगा यह नारद वीरभद्र के मुख से निकले हुए इन शब्दों को सुनकर विष्णु जी ने हंसते हुए उत्तर दिया है वीरभद्र तुम शिव जी के गानों को और उन्हें के द्वारा उत्पन्न होने के कारण पूजन किया जाने के योग्य हो मैं शिवजी को त्याग कर दक्ष की रक्षा के लिए निर्मित यहां जी लिए आए हो वह वृतांत तुमसे कहता हूं दक्ष मेरे परम भक्त हैं और उन्होंने मेरी बड़ी सेवा की है जब उन्होंने मुझे यहां आने का निमंत्रण दिया तो उनकी भक्ति के वशीभूत होकर माय हाथ चला आया क्योंकि मैं सहदेव अपने भक्तों के लिए अधीन रहता हूं आप मैं तुम्हें अपनी शक्ति द्वारा उसे स्थान से हटाने का प्रयत्न करता हूं इसलिए तुम्हें भी उचित है कि तुम जिस कार्य के लिए यहां आए हो उसे संपन्न करो जब तक तुम मुझे पराजित नहीं कर देते तब तक यज्ञ के समीप नहीं पहुंच पाओग ही नारा दिया सुनकर वीरभद्र ने शाही सुनो बनाकर हंसते हुए कहा है विष्णु आप में और शिव में कोई भेद नहीं है आज तुम आए तो आप दोनों की ही सेवक हूं जो मनुष्य आप में और शिव में भेद समझते हैं उन्हें घोर दुख उठाना पड़ता है फिर भी मैं आपको यह बता देना चाहता हूं कि मुझे भगवान सदाशिव की आज्ञा का पालन करना है वस्तु यही मैं आपको कोई कष्ट पहुंचा हूं तो उसमें मेरा कोई दोस्त नहीं होगा आप जानबूझकर भी अपने लोग को लौट कर नहीं गए और यहां मुझे युद्ध करने के लिए प्रयुक्त हो गए अतः आप स्वयं ही मुझे यह बातें की इस समय मुझे क्या करना उचित है यह सुनकर विष्णु जी बोले है वीरभद्र तुम निश्चित होकर हमारे साथ युद्ध करो इस युद्ध में तुम अवश्य ही विजई होंगे जब हम तुम्हारी चोट से घायल होकर अपने लोग की लौट जाए उसे समय जो उचित समझो वह करना यह सुनकर वीरभद्र ने अपने हथियार उठा लिए उसे समय युद्ध के बजे बजने लग तथा विष्णु जी ने अपना भी सॉन्ग होकर संपूर्ण संसार में आकर मचा दिया जो लोग युद्ध क्षेत्र से भाग गए थे वह भी फिर लौट आए इंद्र आदि देवता विष्णु जी के साथ रहकर फिर से अपने पराक्रम का प्रदर्शन करने लगे इस प्रकार कमर संग्राम आरंभ हो गया

Brahma Ji has said that Narada, Indra's warriors started fighting with Shiv Ganas. In this war, weapons like Hansi, Tomar, Van Patit etc. started being used. The sound of famous battle cries like Beri Shankar, Vriddhi, Bhoomi, Patthar, Nishan and Deep Deep etc. started resonating everywhere. All the warriors were trying to show their bravery in the war. At that time, Shiv Ganas showed their ultimate bravery. At that time, when they saw Indra's warriors getting defeated, Mriga Rishi made Veerbhadra's warriors lose by chanting Uchch Patan Mantra. Then Indra's warriors made him very sad and killed his friends. Seeing this invincible calamity, Shiv's warriors started running away in fear and Indra's warriors got defeated. O Narada, the main reason for Shiv Ganas's defeat was that in this way Shiv Ji had given Champa respect to the superiority of Brahma. Today, when Veerbhadra saw that his warriors were running away after being defeated, he left behind the ghosts and spirits etc. and came forward himself. The big commanders who were riding on the battle field also came forward with him and stood there. He had taken the Taduparan with his hands. I fought a fierce battle with Indra with a trident. Wounded by his attacks, the gods and others got scared and started running away from the battlefield. Some of their limbs were cut off, some of their heads fell into pieces. Thus, the entire service of the gods was destroyed. Some gods even ran away to their homes. At that time, Indra was seen standing alone in the battlefield firmly. Seeing his servant running away like this, Indra said to his Guru Brihaspati that Guru, you are the protector of the service of the gods, so please tell us a way by which you can win. On hearing this, Brihaspati replied that whatever Vishnu ji had said to Indra, the same is coming out at this time. Mantra, Tantra, medicine, Vedas, religious texts, Puranas, thoughts and beliefs etc. All these are incapable of knowing the glory of Lord Shiva. You are a fool who has made them mindless like children and is trying to distance them from Lord Shiva. All these Ganas have come as per the orders of Lord Shiva and will agree only after destroying this yagya. No one will be able to live in front of them. On hearing these words from the mouth of Narad Brihaspati, all the gods including Indra got very worried. At this time, Veerbhadra addressed them all and said that I am a god, all your words are not acceptable to children. It is indicative of lack of intelligence and is useless. You people could not recognize the Shahrukh cloth. Therefore, all the gods who have come to participate in this yagya, take your share of the yagya as my masters. Saying this, Veerbhadra once again addressed the gods like Indra, Agni, Kuber, Varun, Surya, Moon etc. and said, Gods, all of you take your share as my masters. I will make you so happy that you get the knowledge of the glory of Lord Sada Shiva forever. Saying this, Veerbhadra became very angry and started raining there. In the attack of that flood, Indra's body was injured. When he realized that he could not win over Veerbhadra by any means, he ran away with all the gods. Seeing this scene, all the sages and saints became very scared and went to the shelter of Vishnu ji and after saluting him, they started saying, Lord, we have come to your shelter, today you be kind and protect us. Hearing the prayers of those sages and saints, Shri Vishnu ji also took his weapons and stood in front of Veerbhadra with the desire to fight. When Veerbhadra stood in front of him, When he saw Vishnu Ji there, he called him and said Vishnu, why have you come here? Why have you destroyed your brilliance and light after making him the protector of Daksha? Your biggest mistake was that you took Kendra along to take your share in the yagya. Now if you have come to fight, then also remember that it is the order of Lord Shiva, in the same way I will take you to a pilgrimage. Hearing these words coming out of Narad Veerbhadra's mouth, Vishnu Ji replied smilingly, Veerbhadra, you are worthy of being worshipped by Lord Shiva and because you are born from him, I have left Lord Shiva and have come here to protect Daksha. I am telling you that story. Daksha is my supreme devotee and he has served me a lot. When he invited me to come here, then being under the influence of his devotion, I came in his hands because I, Sahadev, remain subservient to my devotees. I try to remove you from that place with my power. Therefore, it is appropriate for you to complete the work for which you have come here until you defeat me. Hearing this Veerbhadra laughed making a royal face and said Vishnu there is no difference between you and Shiva. Today when you have come I am the servant of both of you. Those people who think there is a difference between you and Shiva have to suffer a lot. Still I want to tell you that I have to obey the orders of Lord Sadashiv. If I cause any harm to you then I will not have any friend in that. You intentionally did not go back to your people and came here to fight with me. So you yourself told me what is the right thing to do at this time. Hearing this Vishnu ji said Veerbhadra you should be confident and fight with us. You will definitely be victorious in this war. When we get injured by your attack and return to our people then do whatever you think is right at that time. Hearing this Veerbhadra took up his weapons. The war bells started ringing and Vishnu ji also fired his weapon.The song created a stir in the whole world. Those who had fled from the battle field also came back. Gods like Indra stayed with Lord Vishnu and started displaying their might again. Thus the battle of Kamar started.
