श्री शिव महापुराण कथा छव खंड अअध्याय 9

इतने कथा सुनकर नारद जी ने कहा है पिता अब आप मुझे यह बताएं कि जब यह 12 सूर्य अपना स्वरूप धारण करके काशी में स्थित हो गए दादू प्रांत क्या हुआ ब्रह्मा जी बोले ही पुत्र जब सूर्य काशी में रह गए और शिव जी के पास लौटकर नहीं पहुंचे उसे समय शिवजी अत्यंत व्याकुल होकर इस प्रकार कहने लगे हां सूर्य भी अब तक लौट कर नहीं आए इस भांति शिवजी बहुत समय तक काशी का स्मरण कर व्याकुल होते रहे ता दो प्रांत उन्होंने यह विचार किया कि वेद ज्ञान ब्रह्म वहां जाकर सब समाचार ला सकते हैं और तो यह निश्चय करने के उपरांत उन्होंने मुझे यह कहा यह ब्रह्मांड हमने योगी गांड तथा सूर्य को काशी में भेजता था परंतु वे लोग अभी तक लौट कर नहीं आए पता नहीं इसका क्या कारण है कहां से हमारे हृदय में बसी हुई है या देवी हमारे मस्तक पर चंद्रमा विराजमान है परंतु फिर भी खांसी का वियोग रूपी दा हमारे हृदय से नहीं जाता है आज तो आप तुम स्वयं काशी में जो वहां जाने से तुम्हें अत्यंत पूर्ण प्राप्त होगा और हमारा भी शक दूर हो गए हे नारद शिव मुझे देखते ही अपने आसन से उठ खड़ा हुआ तदुपरांत उसने मेरा बहुत स्वागत सम्मान करते हुए तथा उचित आसन पर बैठे हुए पूछा है प्रभु आपके आगमन का कारण क्या है उसे समय मैं राजा को यह उत्तर दिया है राजन मैं तुम्हारी नगरी में बहुत दिनों से रहता हूं और तुमको भली भांति जानता हूं तुम्हारे सामान धर्मात्मा राजा संसार में कोई और नहीं है तुम्हारी प्रजा संतन भाई बंधु आदि तो अच्छी तरह है यह नृप श्रेष्ठ अच्छा अब मैं तुम्हें अपनी आगमन का कारण बताता हूं ए राजा मेरे पास शुद्ध धन तथा देवता आदि सभी उपस्थित हैं और तुम मैं तुम्हारी काशीपुरी में यह आजा करना चाहता हूं तुम्हारी इस राजधानी से अधिक उत्तम तीर्थ अन्य कोई नहीं है वेदों का भी यही कहना है कि काशी शिवजी का दूसरा स्वरूप है हे राजन तुम शिवजी की प्रसन्नता के निर्माता काशी का पालन करते हो इसलिए तुम्हारे ऊपर किसी की कोई युक्ति नहीं चल पाती तुम अन्य देवताओं को शिव जी के सामान मत समझना शिवजी सबसे श्रेष्ठ और सबका मनोरथ पूर्ण करने वाले हैं है राजन जो ब्राह्मण पर आए हित चिंतक होते हैं वह इसी प्रकार का उद्देश्य दिया करते हैं इसलिए मैंने भी तुम्हें यह उपदेश दिया है इन बातों पर ध्यान देने से तुम्हारे सभी मनोकामना पूर्ण होगी अब तुम मुझे आजा में सहायता प्रदान करो हे नारद इतना कह कर जब मैं चुप हो गया तब राजा ने हाथ जोड़कर मुझे इस प्रकार कहा है ब्राह्मण आप यह आनंदपूर्वक यज्ञ करें और जिस वस्तु की इच्छा हो वह मुझसे ले ले हमेशा प्रकार से आपका सेवक हूं तथा मेरे घर में जो भी सामग्री है वह सब आपके लिए ही है वेद में प्रजा का पालन राजा का सबसे बड़ा धर्म कहा गया है जिस देश में प्रजा दुखी होती है वहां व्रत से भी अधिक प्रभाव रखने वाले तिर्चना अग्नि उत्पन्न होती है वह अग्नि सबको भस्म कर डालती है है विप्र मेरा यह नियम है कि मैं सभी ब्राह्मणों का चरण सेवक हूं उन्हें की कृपा से मेरे संपूर्ण मनोरथ पूर्ण होते हैं जब मुझे स्नान करने की इच्छा होती है तब मैं ब्राह्मण के चरण धोकर उसे जल को अपने शरीर पर डाल लेता हूं और जब मैं ब्रह्म भोज करता हूं उसे समय उसे 100 यज्ञ से काम नहीं समझना मेरी रात दिन यदि अभिलाष बनी रहती है कि कोई अतिथि मेरे घर पधारे और मुझे अपनी सेवा करने का अवसर प्रदान करें आज तू आप प्रसन्नता पूर्वक यहां यज्ञ कीजिए मैं आपकी सब प्रकार से सेवा करूंगा ही नारा दिया सुनकर मैं प्रसन्न होकर हरि सर नामक स्थान पर जा पहुंचा वहां मैं राजा देवदास की सहायता से 10 अश्वमेध यज्ञ किया तब से वह स्थान 10 अश्वमेध तीर्थ के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुआ गंगा के समीप होने के कारण वह स्थान और अधिक पवित्र माना गया तदुपरांत मैं वहां शिवलिंग की स्थापना की और स्वयं भी वही स्थिति हो गया यह डीपी मैं अनेक प्रयत्न किया परंतु उसे राजा में किसी भी प्रकार का दोस्त निकालने में मुझे सफलता नहीं मिली और तू कशी को सर्वगुण संपन्न जानकर मैंने शिवजी के पास लौटना उचित नहीं समझा यद्यपि मैं शिव की अवज्ञा की थी तो भी मुझे इसलिए भाई नहीं था क्योंकि मैं यह जानता था कि जो व्यक्ति काशी का सेवा करता है उसके ऊपर शिवजी कभी क्रोध नहीं करते वह शिवजी के भक्त स्वच्छ चांद विचरण करते हैं बड़े-बड़े पापियों के पाप भी काशी में आकर नष्ट हो जाते हैं वहां अन्य किसी देवता की आज्ञा नहीं चलती वहां आप कोई भी प्रनियम राज से भयभीत नहीं होता प्राणी पापियों को तो काशी में रहकर जो आनंद मिलता है वह बैकुंठ में भी कभी प्राप्त नहीं होता है जो मनुष्य काशी में शिवलिंग की स्थापना करता है वह अपने मन में किसी भी बड़े पाप से नहीं डरता यही जानकर मैंने अपने स्थान पर शिवलिंग की स्थापना की थी जिस लिंग को मैं वहां स्थापित किया था उसका नाम ब्रह्मेश्वर है वह लिंग संपूर्ण मनोरथ को पूर्ण करने वाला तथा संपूर्ण चिताओं को दूर करने वाला है हे नारद जो मनुष्य ही कथा को सुनता है अथवा किसी दूसरे को सुनता है उसके भी संपूर्ण पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं

After listening to this story, Narad ji said, father, now you tell me that when these 12 suns assumed their form and settled in Kashi, what happened Dadu province, Brahma ji said, son, when the suns stayed in Kashi and did not return to Shiv ji, at that time Shiv ji became very restless and said yes, even the sun has not returned till now, in this way Shiv ji kept remembering Kashi and became restless for a long time, then he thought that the knowledge of Vedas, Brahma can go there and bring all the news, and so after deciding this, he told me this universe, we used to send Yogi Gan and Surya to Kashi, but they have not returned till now, I do not know what is the reason for this, from where is it settled in our heart or the goddess, the moon is seated on our forehead, but still the pain of separation in the form of cough does not go away from our heart, today you yourself are in Kashi, by going there you will get complete fulfillment and our doubts are also cleared, Narad Shiv stood up from his seat as soon as he saw me, thereafter he welcomed me very respectfully and said appropriately. While sitting on the seat, he asked, “Lord, what is the reason for your arrival?” At that time, I replied to the king, “O King, I have been living in your city for a long time and know you very well. There is no other pious king in the world like you. Your subjects, children, brothers, relatives etc. are all well off. You are the best king. Now, I will tell you the reason for my arrival. O King, I have pure wealth and all the Gods etc. and I want to come to your Kashipuri. There is no better pilgrimage than this capital of yours. The Vedas also say that Kashi is the second form of Lord Shiva. O King, you take care of Kashi, the creator of Lord Shiva’s happiness. That is why no one’s trick can work on you. Do not consider other Gods to be equal to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is the best and the one who fulfils everyone’s wishes. O King, those who think about the welfare of Brahmins give this kind of purpose. That is why I have also given you this advice. By paying attention to these things, all your wishes will be fulfilled. Now, O Narada, help me in coming. After saying this, I became silent. When it was done, the king folded his hands and said to me, "Brahmin, you should perform this yagya happily and whatever you wish for, take it from me. I am your servant forever and whatever material is there in my house is all for you. In the Vedas, protection of the subjects is said to be the biggest religion of a king. In the country where the subjects are unhappy, there the Tirchana fire, which has more effect than fasting, is produced. That fire burns everyone to ashes. Brahmin, it is my rule that I am the servant of the feet of all Brahmins. All my desires are fulfilled by their grace. When I feel like taking a bath, I wash the feet of the Brahmin and pour that water on my body and when I have a Brahma Bhojan, consider it no less than 100 yagyas. If I have a desire day and night that a guest should come to my house and give me an opportunity to serve him, then today you happily perform the yagya here, I will serve you in every way." Hearing this slogan, I became happy and reached a place called Harisar. There, with the help of King Devdas, I performed 10 Ashvamedha yagyas. Since then, that place has been known as Harisar. 10 It became famous as Ashwamedh Tirth. Being near Ganga, that place was considered more sacred. Thereafter I established Shivling there and I myself also became one with that state. I made many efforts but I did not succeed in finding any kind of friend in that king. Knowing Kashi to be full of all virtues, I did not think it right to return to Shivji. Although I had disobeyed Shiv, still I did not believe it because I knew that Shivji never gets angry on the person who serves Kashi. The devotee of Shivji roams on the clean moon. The sins of even the biggest sinners get destroyed after coming to Kashi. The orders of no other deity are followed there. No one is afraid of the king. The happiness that sinners get by staying in Kashi is never obtained even in Vaikunth. The person who establishes Shivling in Kashi does not fear any big sin in his mind. Knowing this, I established Shivling at my place. The name of the linga that I established there is Brahmeshwar. Linga is the fulfiller of all desires and removes all worries. Oh Narada, the person who listens to this story or listens to someone else, all his sins are destroyed.
