ब्रह्मा जी ने कहा हे पुत्र अब मैं श्रद्धा देव अर्थात बस वक्त मुनि के वंश का वर्णन करता हूं इस वंश के राजा बड़े तपस्वी तथा प्रतापी है एक बार श्रद्धा देव ने वशिष्ठ मुनि की सहायता से तेजस्वी तथा भाग्यवान पुत्री की प्राप्ति हेतु वरुण यज्ञ करना आरंभ किया उसे समय श्रद्धा देव की रानी ने वशिष्ठ जी से एकांत में यह विनय की है ऋषि आप ऐसा उपाय कीजिए जिससे मेरे गर्भ द्वारा पुत्र न होकर कन्या का जन्म हो कन्या पूर्णिया को बढ़ाने वाली तथा मुक्ति को प्रदान करने वाली होती है अस्तु आप मेरी प्रार्थना अवश्य स्वीकार करें यह सुनकर वशिष्ठ जी ने पुत्र प्राप्ति के मंत्र के बदले कन्या प्राप्ति के मंत्र को जपना आरंभ कर दिया परिणाम स्वरुप यज्ञ पूर्ण होने पर बालक के बदले कन्या का जन्म हुआ उसका नया का नाम इला रखा गया हे नारद उसे समय श्रद्धा देव मुनि ने वशिष्ठ जी से यह पूछा है गुरु मैं पुत्र की कामना से यज्ञ किया था परंतु कन्या क्यों उत्पन्न हुई इसका कारण बताने की कृपा करें तब वशिष्ठ जी ने उन्हें वास्तविकता का ज्ञान करते हुए कहा है राजन हम तुम्हारे मनोरथ को पूर्ण कर देंगे इस प्रकार जब श्रद्धा देव की चिंता दूर हो गई तब उन्होंने इला की और प्रशांत पूर्वक देखा जब उन्हें यह ज्ञात हुआ कि यह कन्या परम तेजस्वी है तो वह अपने मन में तय टी प्रसाद न हुई फिर उन्होंने इला को झंडा नाम से संबोधित करते हुए अपने पास बुलाकर यह कहा है पुत्री तुम समीप आकर खेलो उसे समय झंडा उन्हें उत्तर देते हुए बोली है पिता मेरा जन्म मित्र वरुण के अंश से पूर्ण हुआ है यद्यपि आपको पुत्र की आकांक्षा थी परंतु माता के अभिलाष को पूर्ण करने के हेतु मेरा जन्म हुआ है फिर भी मैं आपकी अभिलाषा भी पूर्ण कर दूंगी आप मुझे मित्र वरुण के पास जाने की आज्ञा दे दीजिए हे नारद या सुनकर श्रद्धा देव ने झंडा को मित्र वरुण के पास जाने की आज्ञा दे दी तब वह उसके पास पहुंचा हाथ जोड़ स्तुति करते हुए इस प्रकार बोली हे प्रभु मैं आपके यहां से उत्पन्न हुई वस्तु आप को जो आज्ञा देंगे वह कार्य करने में के लिए मैं प्रस्तुत हूं झंडा कैसे वचन सुनकर मित्र वरुण में तय टी प्रसन्नता होते हुए कहा है झंडा मैं तुम्हारी विनय तथा सत्यवादी ता से अत्यंत प्रसन्न हो आप तुम संसार में मेरे नाम से प्रसिद्ध होंगे तुम्हारे शरीर भी लड़के के रूप में परिवर्तित हो जाएगा तुम्हारा नाम सुडोढन होगा मित्र वरुण के यह वचन सुनकर झंडा अत्यंत प्रसन्न हो मनु के पास लौट आई उन्हें दोनों वशिष्ठ जी ने भगवान सदाशिव को प्रसन्न करके व्यवहार मांगा की श्रद्धा देव की पुत्री झंडा पुत्र रूप में परिवर्तित हो जाए वस्तु शिवजी के वरदान एवं मित्र वरुण की कृपा से झंडा लड़का हो और सुवर्धन नाम से प्रसिद्ध संसार में प्रसिद्ध हुई हे नारद एक दिन सुआधान शिकारी का ओवैस धारण कर शिकार खेलने के लिए उत्तर दिशा की ओर गया वहां सहयोग व वाहन सूर्य गिरी जहां पर शिव गिरजा सहित बिहार का रहे थे जा पहुंचा उसे स्थान पर पहुंचने की वह अपने सभी साथियों सहित स्त्री रूप को प्राप्त हो गया यह आश्चर्य देखकर सब लोग अत्यंत चकित हुए सुवादन के वहां पहुंचकर स्त्री हो जाने का यह कारण था कि एक बार भगवती गिरजा उसे स्थान पर भगवान सदाशिव के साथ बिहार कर रही थी तब कुछ देवता शिव जी के दर्शन प्राप्त करने के हेतु स्थान पर जा पहुंचे थे परंतु जब उन्होंने यह देखा कि शिव जी बिहार में मग्न हो तब वह राजा पूर्वक वाहन से लौटा है और बंदरी वन में हार गए तब गिरजा खाया ज्ञात हुआ कि यह देवता आए थे और उन्हें बिहार करते हुए देखा गए हैं तो वह अपने मन में बहुत लज्जित हुए उसे समय शिव जी ने गिरजा के हृदय को संतोष प्रदान करने के हेतु यह कहा है गिरजे भविष्य में जो भी मनुष्य स्थान पर आएगा वह स्त्री का रूप हो जाएगा इसलिए जब वहां वह जा पहुंचे तो उसे शराब के प्रभाव के कारण स्त्री हो गया हे नारद स्त्री हो जाने पर सुवोधन अत्यंत दुखी हो अपने साथियों सहित इधर-उधर भ्रमण करने लगा तथा घर लौट कर नहीं गया जिस समय हुआ वन में भ्रमण कर रहा था तभी चंद्रमा का पुत्र बुद्ध भी उसके समीप आ पहुंचा जब बुद्ध ने परम सुंदरी नगरी के रूप में सुआदम को देखा तो वहां उसे पर मोहित हो गया स्त्री रूपी सुवादन भी भूत पर अक्षत हो गया तब वह दोनों परंपरा भोग करने लगे उन दोनों के सहयोग से पुरुष हुआ नामक एक अत्यंत प्रतापी राजा का जन्म हुआ राजा पुरुषों को संसार में अत्यंत प्रसिद्ध हुआ उसे समय हुए संसार में चंद्रवंश का आरंभ हुआ जिसमें आगे चलकर भगवान श्री कृष्ण चंद्र जी ने अवतार लिया था चंद्रवंश के राजाओं की कथा अनेक है हे नारद रुसवा जन्म देने के उपरांत सावधान अध्ययन दुखी हो अपने गुरु वशिष्ठ का रमन करने लगा तब वशिष्ठ जी प्रसन्न होकर उसके पास पहुंचे जब उन्होंने यह देखा कि सुवोधन स्त्री हो गया है तब हुए उसे पुरुष रूप प्रदान करने के हेतु शिवजी का तप करने लगे कुछ समय उपरांत शिवजी ने प्रसन्न होकर उन्हें अपना दर्शन दिया तथा वह महीने की आज्ञा दी तब वशीकरण भगवान सदा शिव की स्तुति एवं प्रार्थना करते हुए यह कहा हे प्रभु मेरी यह अभिलाषा है कि गोवर्धन पहले की भांति फिर से पूर्व शरीर को प्राप्त करें वशिष्ठ जी की प्रार्थना सुनकर शिवजी बोल ही वशिष्ठ हमने उसे वन को जो शराब दिया है वह तो मीठा नहीं होगा परंतु हम तुम्हारी तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर यह वरदान देते हैं की सुविधा एक महीने तक स्त्री रूप में रहेगा और दूसरी महीने रूप हो जाएगा वह अपने राज्य का विधि पूर्वक संचालन करेगा तथा हमारी कृपा से इसे किसी प्रकार का कष्ट नहीं होगा इतना कह कर शिवजी अंतर ध्यान हो गए और सुबोधन पूर्ण पुरुष शरीर धारण कर अपने घर लौट आया तथा सुखपूर्वक राज करने लगा उसके उत्कल गया तथा विमल नामक तीन पुत्रों को जन्म दिया भूतकाल के नाम पर उत्कल देश प्रसिद्ध हुआ गायन ने गया को बसाया था विमल पश्चिमी देश का राजा हुआ

Once Shraddha Dev started performing Varun Yagya with the help of Vashisht Muni to get a bright and fortunate daughter. At that time, Shraddha Dev's queen requested Vashisht ji in private that Rishi, you should do such a thing that instead of a son, a girl is born from my womb. A girl increases the Purnia and gives salvation. So, you must accept my request. On hearing this, Vashisht ji started chanting the mantra for getting a girl instead of the mantra for getting a son. As a result, on completion of the Yagya, instead of a boy, a girl was born. Her name was kept as Ila. O Narada, at that time Shraddha Dev Muni asked Vashisht ji that Guru, I had performed the Yagya with the desire of having a son, but please tell me the reason why a girl was born. Then Vashisht ji told him the reality and said, Rajan, we will fulfill your desire. In this way, when Shraddha Dev's worries were over, he looked at Ila and said, Prashant. When he saw Ila carefully and came to know that this girl is very radiant, he became convinced in his mind. Then he called Ila by the name Jhanda and addressed her by the name Jhanda and said, "Daughter, come near me and play." Jhanda replied to him and said, "Father, my birth has been completed from the part of Mitra Varun. Although you had the desire of a son, but I have been born to fulfill the desire of the mother. Still, I will fulfill your desire also. Please give me permission to go to Mitra Varun, O Narada." Hearing this, Shraddha Dev gave permission to Jhanda to go to Mitra Varun. Then he reached him and praising her with folded hands said, "O Lord, I am a thing born from your place, I am ready to do the work which you will order." Hearing these words of Jhanda, Mitra Varun became pleased and said, "Jhanda, I am very pleased with your humility and truthfulness. You will be famous in the world by my name. Your body will also be transformed into that of a boy. Your name will be Sudhodhan. Hearing these words of Mitra Varun, Jhanda became very happy and returned to Manu. Both Vashishtha gave them By pleasing Lord Sadashiv, he asked for a reward that Shraddha Dev's daughter Jhanda should be transformed into a son. By the blessing of Lord Shiva and the grace of his friend Varun, Jhanda was born as a son and became famous in the world by the name of Suvardhan. One day Narada, wearing the uniform of a hunter, went towards the north for hunting. There, Surya Giri, the helper and vehicle, reached the place where Shiva was doing Vihar along with Girja. On reaching the place, he along with all his companions attained the form of a woman. Seeing this wonder, everyone was very surprised. The reason for Suvardhan reaching there and becoming a woman was that once when Goddess Girja was doing Vihar with Lord Sadashiv at that place, some gods had reached the place to have the darshan of Shiva, but when they saw that Shiva was engrossed in Vihar, then they returned in the vehicle like a king and got lost in the Bandari forest. Then Girja came to know that these gods had come and had seen them doing Vihar, then he felt very ashamed in his heart. At that time, to satisfy the heart of Girja, Shiva said that whatever Girja does in the future When he comes to a human place, he will take the form of a woman. So when he reaches there, he turns into a woman due to the effect of alcohol. O Narad, after becoming a woman, Suvodhan became very sad. He started roaming here and there with his companions and did not return home. When Suvodhan was roaming in the forest, Chandrama's son Buddha also came near him. When Buddha saw Suvaadam in the form of a very beautiful city, he got fascinated by him. Suvaadan in the form of a woman also got intoxicated by the ghost. Then both of them started enjoying the ritual. With the cooperation of both of them, a very majestic king named Purush was born. King Purush became very famous in the world. During that time, Chandravansh started in the world, in which later Lord Shri Krishna Chandra Ji took incarnation. There are many stories of the kings of Chandravansh. O Narad, after giving birth to a disgraced person, he became sad and started loving his guru Vashishta. Then Vashishta became happy and went to him. When he saw that Suvodhan has become a woman, he started doing penance to Lord Shiva to give him a male form. After some time, Lord Shiva became happy and appeared before him. He gave him the order for a month and then while praising and praying to Lord Sada Shiva, he said, O Lord, it is my wish that Govardhan should get his previous body again. On hearing the prayer of Vashishta, Lord Shiva said, Vashishta, the wine we have given him in the forest will not be sweet, but being pleased with your penance, we give you this boon that Subodh will remain in female form for one month and in the second month he will get a male form. He will rule his kingdom in a proper manner and by our grace, he will not have any kind of pain. Saying this, Lord Shiva went into meditation and Subodhan returned to his home taking a complete male form and started ruling happily. He gave birth to three sons named Utkal, Gaya and Vimal. The country of Utkal became famous in the name of the past. Gayan had settled Gaya. Vimal became the king of the western country.
