श्री महा भागवत देवी पुराण अध्याय 37

श्री महादेव जी बोले इस प्रकार स्तुति करने पर महादेवी ने देवताओं के भी साथ और शिव की भी लगता देखकर आकाश में उन्हें दर्शन दिया भगवती काली जी स्वरूप में दक्ष के यज्ञ में आई थी और अपनी माया के द्वारा उसकी छाया जिस प्रकार अग्नि में प्रविष्ट हुई थी उसे मूल प्राकृतिक कौन है निषेध दृष्टि से देखा उसे महादेवी ने शिव से कहा महादेव आप स्थिर जीत को मैं स्वयं हिमालय की पुत्र पुत्री बनाकर तथा मैदान के गर्भ में जन्म लेकर पुणे आपको प्राप्त करूंगी यह मैं आपसे सत्य रहती हूं महेश्वर मैं आपका परित्याग कभी नहीं किया आप ही मूंछ महाकाली के हृदय स्थान और परम आश्रय इसी से आप जगत संघार महाकाल कहे जाते हैं अपने प्रभुता अभियान से मुझे कुछ कहा था इस अपराध के कारण मैं आपकी साक्षात पत्नी रूप में कुछ समय तक नहीं रह सकूंगी शिव आप शांतजित हो जाएंगे संभोग में एक उपाय बताती हूं उसे ही आप संपन्न करें तब निश्चय ही आप मुझे पहले से भी अधिक सुंदर स्वरूप में अपना प्राप्त करेंगे महेश्वर शिव दक्ष की यज्ञ अग्नि में मेरे जी छाया शरीर में प्रवेश किया था उसे सिर पर लेकर मेरी प्रार्थना करके आप इस पृथ्वी भ्रमण करें वह मेरा छाया शरीर अनेक करो में होकर इस पृथ्वी पर गिरेगी और उसे उसे स्थान पर पापों का नाश करने वाला महान शक्तिपीठ उदित होगा जहां योगिनी भाग गिरेगा वह सर्वोत्तम शक्तिपीठ होगा वह रहकर तपस्या करके आप मुझे पुनः प्राप्त करेंगे मुनिश्रेष्ठ ऐसा कह कर और महादेव को बार-बार आश्वासन देकर वह देवी आश्चर्य जनक उसी क्षण अंतर ध्यान हो गए मुनि ब्रह्मा आदि श्रेष्ठ देवगन अपने-अपने लोगों में चले गए और शिवजी पुनः दक्ष के घर में आकर प्रिया सती सती ऐसा कहते हुए सामान्य जन्म के समान रुद्रन करने लगे यक्षाला में प्रवेश करके उन्होंने सती के छाया शरीर को डे अभियान देखा वह शरीर भूमि पर स्थित था नेत्र मंडे हुए थे एवं सभी आरो से परिपूर्ण था सती की उच्च छाया को सहज भाव में सोई हुई सी देखकर शॉक में व्याकुल हृदय होकर शिवजी ने इस प्रकार कहा सती माई तुम्हारा पति शिव तुम्हारे पास आया हूं तुम उठो पहले की भांति मुझे वार्तालाप क्यों नहीं कर रही हो अपराधी मुझे एवं दक्ष को शक के महासमुद्राम में गिरकर अपनी छाया से हमें मोहित करते हुए तुम स्वयं मंत्र ध्यान हो गई हो आप मैं अपनी एकमात्र तुम प्राणप्रिया का त्याग कभी नहीं करूंगा प्रसन्नता पूर्वक तुम्हें लेकर मैं कितने दिन घूमता रहूंगा मनी इस प्रकार साधारण मनुष्य की भांति बंधा विलाप करते हुए शिवजी ने अपनी भुजाओं से सती के छाया शरीर बालकनी करते हुए उसे सिर पर उठा लिया शंकर जी सती के कुछ छाया शरीर को सिर पर रखकर अत्यंत प्रसन्नता पूर्वक धरती पर नाचने लगे ब्रह्मा आदि सूर्यास्त तथा इंद्र के नेत्रों से अन्य देवगन इस अपूर्ण दृश्य को देखकर अपने अपने रातों में बैठ कर आकाश में आ गए दसों दिशाओं में संबंध पृष्ठ होने लगे ज्यादातर सुशोभित जाटव वाले प्रथम गण मुझ पर गाल बजाने लगे और नाचने लगे चारों ओर नाचते हुए शिवजी सती के छाया शरीर को कभी सिर पर कभी दाएं हाथ में कभी बाए हाथ में तो कभी कंधे पर और कभी प्रेम पूर्वक वाक्य स्थल पर धारण कर अपने चरन प्रहार से पृथ्वी को काफी करते हुए नित्य करने लगे चंद्रलोक में स्थित चंद्रमा उसके ललाट पर तिलक के समान सुशोभित होने लगा नक्षत्र मंडल देवनी जटाओं में बोधगया और सूर्य लोक में स्थित भगवान भास्कर उसके कंठ का भरण बन गए महामुनी कच्छ और शेषनाग उसके चरण घाटों से पीड़ित होकर धार्मिक छोड़ने को घाट हो गए अत्यधिक विवेकपूर्ण दृश्य करने से प्राचीन वायु बहने लगी जिसके कारण सुमेरवाड़ी बड़े-बड़े पर्वत वर्षों के समान काफी होने लगे किसी प्रकार चराचर जगत को सुबोध करते हुए और सती के छाया शरीर को सर पर धारण किए हुए नटराज शिव संपूर्ण पृथ्वी पर घूमते रहे और वह प्रसन्नता पूर्वक मन मे ऐसा सोचने लगे सती तुम ऐसी पत्नी हो इसलिए मैं लोकलज्जा छोड़कर तुम्हारी छाया को सिर पैर धो रहा हूं यह मेरा कहो भाग गया है इस प्रकार अपने भाग्य की सराहना करते हुए शिवाजी आनंद मांगना होकर पुणे पुणे नित्य करने लगे इससे सारा संसार अत्यंत इस राहु को गया पक्षी घर अमरीतगढ़ के समान हो गए और लोग काल पहले की कल्पना करने लगे ब्रह्मा जी की आज्ञा से ऋषिगढ़ महान कृष्णा हो तो वचन करने लगे देवताओं को चिंता हुई या कैसे विपत्ति आ गई वह सोचने लगे आप संसार की रक्षा कोई उपाय नहीं दिखता इस दक्ष ने शिव से द्वेष करने के कारण ऐसा कोई प्रारंभ किया जिससे इस संसार सहित हम सब का नाश हो जाए विष्णु नेत्र वाले सर्व समर्थ शिवजी की आनंद से मत वाले होकर सृष्टि पर आई इस विपत्ति का विचार नहीं कर रहे हैं वह जगत संघारक रूद्र कैसा शांत होंगे भगवान विष्णु बोल उपाय बताता हूं आप लोग उसका प्रयत्न करें महादेवी पहले ऐसा कहा था कि सती छाया शरीर बोतल अनेक करो में निश्चय ही गिरेगी और जहां इस देश के खान गिरेंगे उन उन स्थानों पर शक्तिपीठ रूप पुण्यतिथि का उदय होगा उसे देवी ने जो कुछ भी कहा है वह अभी सत्य नहीं होगा सती का छाया शरीर भूतल पर अवश्य गिरेगा अतः सृष्टि की रक्षा के लिए है महान साहस करके परम मां नंदन मैग्ना शिव के सिर पर स्थित छाती के छाया शरीर को सामान सदाशिव की अनजाने में सुदर्शन चक्र से टुकड़े-टुकड़े गिराऊंगा मेरे द्वारा ऐसा करने पर शिव जी के कोक से निश्चय ही हुए हैं ब्रह्मा में जगत पालन करनी महादेवी मेरी रक्षा करेंगे

Shri Mahadev Ji said, on praising in this way, Mahadevi, seeing the presence of the gods and Shiva as well, appeared before him in the sky. Bhagwati Kali Ji had come to Daksha's yagya and the way her shadow had entered the fire through her Maya, seeing it with a negative view of what is the original natural, Mahadevi said to Shiva, Mahadev, you are stable, I will myself become the son and daughter of the Himalayas and take birth in the womb of the plain and attain you, I remain true to you, Maheshwar, I have never abandoned you, you are the heart place and ultimate shelter of Moustache Mahakali, that is why you are called Jagat Sanshar Mahakaal, you had said something to me with your lordship, due to this crime I will not be able to remain as your real wife for some time, Shiva, you will become calm, I will tell you a way in intercourse, you should perform that only, then surely you will get me in a more beautiful form than before, Maheshwar Shiva had entered the yagya fire of Daksha in my shadow body, take it on your head and after praying to me, you should roam around this earth, that my shadow body will fall on this earth in many forms and it will be given to him. At that place a great Shaktipeeth that destroys sins will emerge. Where the Yogini's body falls, that will be the best Shaktipeeth. Stay there and do penance and you will get me back. Great sage, saying this and assuring Mahadev again and again, that goddess went into deep meditation at that very moment, surprising sage Brahma and other great gods went to their respective places and Shivji again came to Daksha's house and saying dear Sati Sati, started doing Rudramna like in a normal birth. Entering the Yakshala, he saw the shadow body of Sati. The body was lying on the ground, eyes were closed and was full of all the rays. Seeing the tall shadow of Sati sleeping comfortably, shocked and distraught, Shivji said thus, Sati Mai, your husband Shiv has come to you. Get up, why are you not talking to me like before? You are the culprit, falling in the ocean of doubt and captivating us with your shadow, you yourself have become a mantra. I will never abandon you, my only beloved, you, how many days will I keep roaming happily with you, like an ordinary man. While lamenting, Shivji caught the shadow body of Sati with his arms and lifted it on his head. Shankar ji started dancing on the earth with great joy by keeping some of the shadow body of Sati on his head. Brahma and other gods from the eyes of Indra, seeing this incomplete scene, came to the sky from their respective nights. Connections started forming in all the ten directions. Most of the decorated Jatav's first ganas started playing cheeks on me and started dancing. Shivji, dancing all around, holding the shadow body of Sati sometimes on his head, sometimes in his right hand, sometimes in his left hand, sometimes on his shoulder and sometimes on the place of his words with love, started doing daily routine by striking the earth with his feet. The moon situated in Chandralok started becoming beautiful like a tilak on his forehead. The constellation Bodhgaya in the locks of Devni and Lord Bhaskar situated in Suryalok became the nourishment for his throat. Mahamuni Kutch and Sheshnag became the ghats of religious sacrifice after being hurt by his feet. Due to the extremely prudent scene, the ancient wind started blowing due to which Sumerwadi Big mountains started becoming as long as years. Somehow enlightening the inanimate and inanimate world and carrying the shadow body of Sati on his head, Nataraja Shiva roamed the entire earth and happily started thinking in his mind that Sati, you are such a wife that is why I am washing your feet and head leaving aside the shame of the world. This devil of mine has run away. Praising his luck in this way, Shivaji started praying for happiness and started doing Pune Pune daily. Due to this the whole world became like the bird house Amritgarh of Rahu and people started imagining the past. By the order of Brahma Ji, Rishigarh became the great Krishna and started talking. The gods got worried and started thinking how this calamity has come. They started thinking that you do not see any solution to protect the world. Due to hatred towards Shiva, this Daksha started such a thing which will destroy us all including this world. Being intoxicated with the joy of Vishnu-eyed all powerful Shiva, he is not thinking about this calamity that has come upon the universe. How will that world destroyer Rudra calm down? Lord Vishnu said, I will tell you the solution, you all try it. Mahadevi said this first. It was said that the shadow body of Sati will surely fall in many mines and wherever the mines of this country will fall, at those places, Shaktipeeth form of Punyantithi will arise, whatever the Goddess has said to her will not be true now, the shadow body of Sati will surely fall on the earth, therefore, for the protection of the universe, by mustering great courage, I will unknowingly break the shadow body of the chest situated on the head of the supreme mother, son of Magna Shiva, into pieces with Sadashiv's Sudarshan Chakra, on my doing so, Shiva ji will surely become Brahma's protector, Mahadevi will protect me.
