श्री महा भागवत देवी पुराण अध्याय 38

देवी जी बोली प्रभु विष्णु जगन्नाथ आप ऐसा आदि करें तभी जगत की रक्षा होगी नहीं तो पारले हो जाएगा श्री महादेव जी बोले तब भगवान शंकर से डरे हुए जगत का पालन करने वाले प्रोग्राम में भगवान विष्णु ने सुदर्शन चक्र से सती के छाया शरीर के टुकड़े टुकड़े करके गिरा दिए नाचते हुए शिव आनंद मांगना गृहीत होकर सब धरती पर चरण भटकते थे उसे समय विष्णु चक्र चला कर उसके सिर पर रखा सती छाया शरीर काट देते इस प्रकार विष्णु के चक्र से उसे शरीर के सारे हद काटकर अलग हो गए और वह धरातल पर आने के स्थान पर गिरे मामूनी पृथ्वी पर हुए ही स्थान मा तीर्थ और मुक्ति क्षेत्र के रूप में विख्यात हुए हुए स्थान सिद्ध पीठ है और देवताओं के लिए भी अत्यंत दुर्लभ है महामुनी वहां भगवती के निर्माता हो हवन आचार्य आदि करता है जिसका कोटी गुना फलों से प्राप्त होता है वह जब करने वाले मनुष्य को महादेव साक्षात दर्शन देते हैं तथा ब्रह्म हत्या आदि महापापों से भी प्राणी मुक्त हो जाते हैं भूमि स्थल पर सती की छाया शरीर से जो अभी गिरे हुए दक्षिण सभी प्राणियों के कारण के निर्माता पाषाण रूप बन गए मुनि ब्रह्मा विष्णु रुद्र और इंद्र आदि देवगढ़ जाकर परमेश्वरी से उन शक्तिपीठों पर विराजमान रहने की प्रार्थना करने लगे विष्णु के द्वारा इस प्रकार शादी की छाया शरीर के टुकड़े करने पड़ता था अपने सिरों को भर रहित हुआ अनुभव कर शिवजी ने धैर्य धारण किया उन्होंने समस्त स्थांवर जड़ में सृष्टि को व्याकुल हुआ देखा तत्पश्चात् भगवान विष्णु ने ब्रह्मपुत्र नारद को भगवान महादेव को शांत करने के लिए उनके निकट भेजो भगवान विष्णु ने नारद से कहा नारा तुम्हारा कल्याण हो तुम मेरे प्रति शिव जी को शांत करो तुम ही इस कार्य में समर्थ हो तुम ब्रह्मा की महा बुद्धिमान पुत्र हो महामति परमेश्वर शिवजी सती के वियोग से दो हाथ होकर किसका क्या करेंगे अथवा इस संसार की प्रलय कर सकते हैं वह महेश्वर जिस प्रकार शांत जीत होकर रहे हो ऐसा प्रयत्न करके सदाशिव को शांत होना प्रदान करो उनका ऐसा वचन सुनकर नारद जी चल पड़े और महादेव जी के सामने हाथ जोड़कर उपस्थित हुए नृत्य रात शिवजी ने हाथ जोड़कर खड़े नारद को देखकर कहा कि मेरे एक मात्र प्राणप्रिया साध्वी सती कहां चली गई नारद जी बोले शंभू आप शांत चित हो सती को आप पुणे अवश्य प्राप्त करेंगे सती तो आपकी नित्य सहचारी है परमेश्वर उसको आकाश में जाते देखकर भी क्या आपको विश्वास नहीं हुआ संभोग आप काल पहले ना करें आप स्थिर चित हो जाए शिवजी बोल नारद ऐसा क्यों रहते हो मैं तुम लोगों का क्या बिगाड़ा है अथवा मैं कहां काल पर ले कर रहा हूं मैं तो सती के वीर से दुखद हूं और छाया शरीर को ही प्रकार किसी प्रकार दुख को बुला रहा था किसी नेता ने मेरे सर से उसे देखा भी अपहरण कर लिया है महाराज जी बोले देव आप संचित हो बाय आपको सब बताता हूं महादेव आप हम पर प्रसन्न हो और अपना यह पार्लर खाली नित्य बंद करें आपके इस नित्य से पीड़ित हुए पृथ्वी में डूब रही है सभी पर्वत चलाएं मन हो गए हैं और देवगन स्वर्ग छोड़कर चले गए देवासुर तथा मानव की यह सारी सृष्टि नष्ट हो रही है आपको अपने द्वारा उपस्थित यह प्रलय दिखाई नहीं दे रहा प्रभु इस तांडव नृत्य के बहाने आप सृष्टि का मांस करने को क्या उद्मित है जो अपने लक्ष्य का ही विनाश कर दे ऐसे कर्म का क्या प्रयोजन फ्री होती है पालन करता भगवान विष्णु ने इस अद्भुत विपत्ति को देखकर आपको 57 देने के लिए ही सुदर्शन चक्र धारण करके उसे सती के छाया शरीर धीरे-धीरे कांटा प्रभु उसे दया के खंड पृथ्वी तल पर जहां-जहां गिरे उसे उसे स्थान पर कामरूप आता मा शक्तिपीठ अवधारित हो गए हैं आपने जब जग जननी की आराधना की थी तब उन्होंने पहले ही यह बात कही थी कि मेरा यह शरीर पृथ्वी तल पर अनेक करो में गिरेगा जहां मेरे प्रसिद्ध देव महावीर उदित होंगे इसलिए भगवान विष्णु ने ऐसा किया सदाशिव आप शांत हो श्री महादेव जी बोले नारद के ऐसे कहने पर भगवान सदा शिव ने नृत्य को त्याग कर बार-बार अपनी स्वभाव छोड़ते हुए कमलापति विष्णु को शराब देती मेरे शराब के कारण निश्चय ही विष्णु धरती पर मनुष्य का रूप धारण करके त्रेता युग में सूर्यवंश में जन्म लेना पड़ेगा जहां उसकी मनोहरी प्राणी प्रिय पत्नी पति के समान अपनी छाया को छोड़कर महिला से स्वयं अंतर ध्यान हो जाएगा तब माया से मोहित हुई आनंद बाग न होकर दूर चले जाएंगे जिस तरह गुरु रक्षा की भांति विष्णु ने मुझे छाया पत्नी का वियोग बना दिया है वैसे ही राक्षस राज कठोरता पूर्वक विष्णु की छाया पत्नी का हरण करके उन्हें भी होगी बनाएगा मामूनी यह मेरा सत्य वचन है विष्णु मेरे ही भांति अवश्य ही शौक से व्याकुल जीते होंगे श्री महादेव जी बोले इस प्रकार विष्णु को श्राप देकर शिवाजी स्वास्थ्य जीत हो गए और अपने तीनों नेत्रों में फैलाकर उन्होंने त्रिलोकी को देखा कहां रूप देश में सती के छाया शरीर का योगिनी भाग गिर गिरा देखकर शिवजी कम से व्याकुल एवं उत्कृष्ट हो गए और उन्होंने रोमांस होगया कामदेव से शिवजी के द्वारा देखे जाने पर शरीर का योगिनी भाग पृथ्वी तल को फीता हुआ पटल की ओर चल पड़ा ऐसा देखकर शंकर जी ने अपने अंश में पर्वत का रूप धारण करके अपने भाग को शहर आते हुए प्रसन्नता पूर्वक सती की इस योनि को धारण कर लिया कामरूप आदि सभी शक्तिपीठ में भगवान सदाशिव पर्सनल लिंक के रूप में स्वयं उपस्थित होकर उसे संबंध हो गए मनी जगदंबा के बताए हुए उसे पूर्ण वृत्तांत को उन्होंने याद किया और उसे वह पेट कामरूप में तपस्या करके महेश्वरी को अपना प्राप्त किया तत्पश्चात की होकर हुए योग गुरु ने हो गया भारत में भी आकाश मार्ग से अपने लोगों में चले गए इस प्रकार श्री महा भागवत महापुराण के अंतर्गत श्री महादेव महाराज संवाद में छाया साथी वर्णन नमक अध्यापक हुआ

Devi ji said, Lord Vishnu Jagannath, you should do this only then the world will be protected, otherwise it will be destroyed, Shri Mahadev ji said, then Lord Vishnu, scared of Lord Shankar, in the program of protecting the world, cut the shadow body of Sati into pieces with Sudarshan Chakra and dropped it. Dancing Shiva, seeking pleasure, was wandering on the earth at that time, Vishnu used his Chakra and cut the shadow body of Sati placed on his head. In this way, all the limits of her body were cut off by Vishnu's Chakra and she fell at the place where she had fallen on the ground. Mamuni is a place on the earth which has become famous as a pilgrimage and a place of salvation, a place known as Siddha Peeth and is very rare even for the gods. Mahamuni, being the creator of Bhagwati there, performs havan, Acharya etc., which yields crores of times the fruits. When Mahadev gives darshan to the person doing it, and the creatures get freed from the great sins like Brahmahatya etc. From the shadow body of Sati which had just fallen on the ground, the creator of the cause of all creatures, Muni Brahma Vishnu Rudra and Indra etc went to Devgarh. He started praying to Parmeshwari to remain seated on those Shaktipeeths. In this way, Vishnu had to cut the shadow body into pieces. Feeling his head was empty, Shivaji gained patience. He saw the entire immovable and inanimate creation in a state of panic. Thereafter, Lord Vishnu sent Brahma's son Narada to Lord Mahadev to calm him down. Lord Vishnu said to Narada, may you be blessed, you calm down Lord Shiva for me. Only you are capable of this task. You are the highly intelligent son of Brahma. The great-minded Lord Shivaji, having two hands, what will he do to anyone due to the separation from Sati or can cause the destruction of this world. Just as Maheshwar has remained calm, try to make Sadashiv calm down. Hearing such words from him, Narada ji started walking and appeared before Mahadev ji with folded hands. Seeing Narada standing with folded hands, Shivaji said, where has my only beloved Sadhvi Sati gone? Narada ji said, Shambhu, you remain calm, you will definitely get Sati back. Sati is yours. God is her companion every day, did you not believe it even after seeing her going to the sky, you should not have intercourse before death, you should be calm, Shivji says Narad why are you behaving like this, what harm have I done to you people or where am I taking death to death, I am sadder than Sati's brave and was somehow inviting sorrow to her shadow body, some leader has abducted her from my head even after seeing her, Maharaj ji says Dev you are satisfied, bye I will tell you everything Mahadev, you should be pleased with us and close this parlor of yours every day, suffering from your daily routine, the earth is sinking, all the mountains have started moving and the gods have left the heaven, this entire creation of gods, demons and humans is getting destroyed, you are not able to see this catastrophe brought about by you, Lord, under the pretext of this Tandav dance, are you determined to destroy the creation, which destroys its own goal, what is the purpose of such a deed, Lord Vishnu seeing this amazing calamity, holding Sudarshan Chakra, slowly cut Sati's shadow body into pieces, Lord, with mercy, he gave it to you Wherever it falls on the earth, that place has become known as Kamarupa and Shaktipeeth. When you worshipped Jag Janani, she had already said that this body of mine will fall on the earth in many corners where my famous god Mahavir will rise, that is why Lord Vishnu did this. Sadashiv, you be calm, Shri Mahadev Ji said, on Narada's saying this, Lord Sada Shiva, abandoning dance, repeatedly leaving his nature, offered liquor to Kamalapati Vishnu. Due to my liquor, Vishnu will surely have to take human form on earth and take birth in Suryavansh in Treta Yuga, where his beautiful creature, beloved wife, like a husband, will leave her shadow and become self-absorbed, then, enchanted by Maya, will go away instead of Anand Bagh. Just as Vishnu, like Guru Raksha, has separated me from my shadow wife, similarly, the demon king will cruelly abduct Vishnu's shadow wife and will make her also a fool, this is my true word. Vishnu must be living in a state of restlessness like me, said Shri Mahadev Ji, thus cursing Vishnu, Shivaji regained his health and took away his three sons. By widening his eyes he saw Triloki, where in the Roop Desh the Yogini part of Sati's shadow body fell down, Shivji became restless and excellent and he fell in love with Kamdev, on being seen by Shivji, the Yogini part of the body started moving towards the earth's surface, ripping it apart, seeing this Shankar ji took the form of a mountain in his part and while returning to his part, happily took this vagina of Sati, Lord Sadashiv himself appeared in the form of a personal link in all the Shaktipeeths like Kamroop etc. and got connected with it, he remembered the complete story told by Mani Jagdamba and by doing penance in Kamroop, he got Maheshwari as his own, after that he became a Yoga Guru, he went to India also among his people through the sky route, in this way, in the dialogue of Shri Mahadev Maharaj under Shri Maha Bhagwat Mahapuran, the description of the shadow companion became a teacher.
